The demise of manufacturing on Merseyside was the result of many things and if you think the Unions and the behaviour of the Labour party were blameless then forgive me for not sharing your blinkered view of history. The likes of Militant left activists such as Dereck Hatton have one hell of a lot to answer for.
I certainly don’t need advice from the likes of you or Lallana as to who I shouldn't vote for. You come across as bitter and twisted in the majority of your posts so forgive me for ignoring your drivel. My education wasn't great so I simply had to get off my backside and do something POSITIVE about it, unlike a lot of people who think the world owes them a living and will look to blame anybody in life for their own failings. I came from a poor family. I've never relied on Unions, politicians and the militant left to better my way in life.
No but you have relied on Unions, and the Labour Party, and the Liberal Party in fact, not this modern version of the Liberal Party but the Liberal Party of the likes of Gladstone, Asquith and Lloyd George who gave us the vote, brought in old age pensions and challenged the supremacy of the House of Lords over the House of Commons.
People have been hung, shot, run through with swords, jailed, flogged, deported, beaten up, blacklisted and starved so the likes of us could have things like universal sufferage, the right to an education, a cradle to the grave healthcare system, a 5 day working week, an 8 hour day, safe working conditions, decent pay etc etc etc.
The party that fought tooth and nail pretty much against all those progressive steps was the Conservative party. The only thing I admire the Conservative party for is their ability to still remain relevant despite spending the past 200 years positioned on the wrong side of history.
You think you have carved a life out for yourself through your own hard work but you haven't, you were given the opportunity to carve a life out for yourself by others, i just wish there was a button people could press to send them to a world where the likes of trade unions, the Labour Party and the early Liberal Party never existed. All you people who slag off the Labour Party and trade unions could go and live happy ever after in your Dickensian wonderland.
Do you know Dev that in 1914 there was a higher casualty rate amongst children under the age of 5 born into working class households than there was for troops in the trenches on the western front? I genuinely don't think people realise just how important the likes of trade unions and Labour Party have been. The Corbyn's and McLusky's of the past gave you a life worth living.
