Anyone who has a clue about finance/economics is aware that the next UK government will have to have large cuts and tax rises. The 3 parties should be debating what they will cut and what tax they will raise.

However, if one party tells the truth the public will vote for one of the two that spins them the "increased efficiency" lie.

I believe people are this stupid. Anyone disagree?

Voters will vote for the person who looks the nicest in these tv debates or against who they dont like or for who they always vote for.

There's been no intelligent discussion of economic policy and its implications or forecasts of unemployment, inflation or the deficit looking forward. There has been no discussion of defence strategy and the failings of successful governments to provide the forces with suitable equipment. There has been no discussion of the failure of the immigration policy over the last 10 years, nor the failure of local social services to protect the vunerable. Nor the failure of the police to stem the rising tide of crime, nor declining education standards which will impact our position in the world and our ability to pay for government services in the future. No mention of increasing government share of national spending and transparant government job creation into non-productive roles. Labour havent been taken to task for the illegal invasion of Iraq. The government has ignored the child abuse by priests - why are nt they being arrested and prosecuted? There is no call for accountability for Labours last X years in power.

People will slag off Rafa and post with venom until they´re blue in the face, but actually call the government to account??

Its a farce, but its democratic.

But the two are inextricably linked - its almost a certainty that the failings of this government and the prospect of improvement at the hands of [a.n] other bunch of them resulting in anything other than more years of deception.  Is indeed without a shadow of a doubt...

Rafa's fault  :upside:

I totally agree with you Naill, you have to be stupid if you don't realise what's coming and what we need to do to rectify the situation, its just people do not want to hear it.

The government spend BILLIONS every year running up a massive defecit without any marked improvement in performance, Rafa on the other hand has to sell to spend and we´re in the semi finals of the Uefa Cup.

Conclusion, Rafa for PM !

Following on from Big Naills thread about stupid voters, as anyone yet heard about the big gaff Gordon Brown has just done.

Apparently he was meeting voters (all nice safe labour supporters of course) and one was a lady pensioner who has voted Labour all her life, she had a go over a few things and one of them being immigration from Eastern Europe, Brown handled it well but when he got back in the car he forgot he still had the microphone on and one of his aids asked him about the lady he had spoken to and he called her, 'just an old bigot' live.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear, poor Gordon the press will have a field day tomorrow. :D

Two lads have started threads which are both about politics/politicians and the voters who have to wade through their subsequent cr@p, in order to choose one that they believe has the best interests of the Nation at heart. With the upcoming General Election on 6th May - it might be easier to lump everything tied in with current affairs regarding that, here in one manageable thread.

Monumental really...unbelievably poor timing. I reckon that pretty much nails down the lid on Brown's coffin.

Clegg and Cameron then.   :lookaround

You wait, the last debate will show Brown as a bystander. The discussion will be between Clegg and Cameron all night.
