Fullbacks do more running than CM's in the modern game, do you really want someone in their mid 30's plodding up and down the touchline. We can do better.

Like who ? Milner is in his mid 30’s and his fitness levels are at the top of the squad - Monreal would only be coming in as a back up , you aren’t going to get many experienced very good left backs - he would be a clear step up from Moreno and would be good for a couple of years until the young lad in the academy is ready.

Chillwell, Sessignon....there's loads we could be going for. Even Ryan Bertrand, at 29 he's not ideal but he'd be better than Monreal.

We don't need 32 year old bench warmers on the payroll, he's not signing a new contract at Arsenal because he's looking to earn a few quid, well he can look somewhere else.

You need a left back at left back not a CB or a RB - we have a very good young left back coming through but needs a couple of seasons
Monreal is a very good experienced international left back who will do a very good job for a couple of seasons
Teams that win trophies have experienced players on the bench who are able to fill in when required. Monreal will do that and he will cost nothing and his wages won’t be mad.
It’s a win win situation
