I actually think it would be a good piece of business if we can sell Borini and sign Lavezzi for those money. Must admit haven't seen too much of him these past years since he went to PSG but I'm sure he's got something left in his locker. Not the youngest, 29, but for the 8 million it's worth the risk IMO. Yes, he's a winger and we have plenty of those, but he can also play as a striker like Sterling did, only Lavezzi would do it better. I think we should go for him.

I don't think we will be doing anything this window what with Sterling being given an extended break ready
for the run in and Sturridge on the way back. Signs they are going with what they have.

Only business will be out if we get good offers for players that they no longer require.

Not sure what Levezzi can offer coming up 30 when we have half a dozen already in that mould and much
younger, old interest but we have bought Lallana since and have Ibe back in the summer.

Lot of false flags as usual at Liverpool.

In fairness if we need one players its a striker, we have to assume that Sturridge won't go the balance of the season uninjured and taking a longer term few isn't it probable it'll happen again next season? I'll feel a lot better if we can bring in Higuaín.

Bascombe, King and Hunter all reporting that LFC are looking at Mathew Ryan to replace Mignolet this summer. Highly rated Australian.

Liverpool are monitoring Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan as they look to bolster their options in the position.

Ryan, 22, plays for Club Brugge and is currently on international duty at the Asian Cup with the Socceroos.

He was goalkeeper of the year in Belgium in 2013-14 and Liverpool have checked on his form.

Any deal would not be done in this window but could proceed in the summer if Ryan continues to impress.

Brugge's Mathew Ryan is the latest keeper to be linked with a move to Liverpool as Brendan Rodgers considers his options.

Australian Ryan is currently playing for his country in the Asian Cup and has caught the eye with some excellent displays.

He was keeper of the year in Belgium in 2013-14 and the Reds have been keeping an eye on him ever since.

If Liverpool do push for a move it will happen in the summer rather than during the current transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund are already preparing for life without Marco Reus, CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has admitted.

Liverpool and Chelsea are both interested in the 25-year-old winger, who reportedly has a £20million release clause in a contract that expires in 2017.

Reus was subject to heavy transfer speculation in the summer but Dortmund held on to the Germany international in effort to build a new team around him in the post-Robert Lewandowski era.

And Watzke concedes that although Dortmund are desperate to keep Reus, the club are ready to replace him if required.

"My big hope is that he will stay here for a long time," Watzke said on Wednesday.

"If he decides differently, that's the way it is. One of the challenges in football is to benefit from staff changes in any way and create new things."

Watzke's comments are likely to resonate at both Liverpool and Chelsea as the respective clubs gear up for a battle to sign the midfielder.

The Reds are searching a summer replacement for departing captain Steven Gerrard, while Jose Mourinho wants to further boost his midfield.

No deal is likely until July, however, as Reus has been out injured since November and is only expected to return to Bundesliga action by this spring.

And Watzke said the club cannot predict when their star man will make his first-team comeback.

"Of course I can understand that he wants to get fit, play again and look in which direction we're heading, first," he said.

"Some time he will take his decision. It it the most normal thing in the world and it will happen soon. Whether it is in four or eight weeks, this won't be the fact that makes a big difference."

Liverpool will join West Ham in the battle to sign Alex Song - at the end of the season, according to reports in Spain.

Song has caught the eye with his impression performances at Upton Park this season after joining on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

While West Ham are keen to make the move a permanent one, Spanish news outlet fichajes.net says that Liverpool will join them in the race for his long-term signature.

Liverpool were interested in Song last summer but did not pursue a move for the 27-year-old.

West Ham are confident that Liverpool will not beat them to the signing of Alex Song.

The 27-year-old midfielder - who spoke earlier this season of growing up idolising Kop hero Steven Gerrard - has been hugely impressive since moving to Upton Park on loan from Barcelona in the summer.

So much so that the Hammers already have a lucrative deal on the table to entice him to commit his future to the club.

Song, however, wants to play in the Champions League next season and is delaying his decision until the end of the current campaign. That has allowed the Anfield giants to express their interest.

West Ham are four points off the top four in seventh with Liverpool a point behind them.

But the Londoners remain confident - despite their recent dip in League form - that they will be able to sustain a challenge.

They are also heartened by the fact that Song enjoys living in London and that his wife is also happy in the capital.

Chelsea and Liverpool have been told that Mauro Icardi will be available for £30m at the end of the season if Inter Milan do not qualify for the Champions League.

Inter currently sit ninth in Serie A and are in danger of missing out on Europe's top competition next term.

And while the Milan outfit have brought in the likes of Lukas Podolski and Xherdan Shaqiri this month to aid new boss Roberto Mancini's efforts to turn things round at the San Siro, there are likely to be players sold in the summer if the former Manchester City boss is unsuccessful.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea have been heavily linked with moves for Icardi, who now looks unlikely to leave Inter in January.

But reports in Italy suggest it will be a different story in the summer unless Mancini can oversee a dramatic change in fortunes.

Inter Milan sporting director Marco Fassone said earlier this week: "January is no time to make player sales, but at the end of the season it could certainly happen.

"We have already planned our spending for next summer.

"Without the Champions League, some sales may be inevitable."

West Ham could face a battle to sign Alex Song on a permanent basis as reports claim Liverpool and Manchester United are keen.

The Hammers signed the former Arsenal midfielder on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona in the summer.

Song is set to return to Camp Nou at the end of his loan stint but the Catalan giants hope to offload the Cameroonian midfielder in the summer and the latest reports indicate they will not be short of offers.

West Ham are understood to be willing to pay up to £15million to snare the combative midfielder but Liverpool and United have also been credited with an interest.

Liverpool and United are not expected to make a move for the 27-year-old in January and will wait until the summer, meaning Song will stay at Upton Park for the remainder of the campaign.

But it remains to be seen as to whether West Ham will be able to secure a permanent deal.

Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham are on alert after Sebastian Giovinco's agent hinted at a summer exit.

Giovinco would be a useful addition to any of the Premier League quartet and is seemingly available for a modest £10million fee.

Andrea D'Amico assured Juventus supporter's that his client would not be leaving the club in January, but swiftly revealed that a summer exit could be on the cards.

He said: "Sebastian is a Juventus player. He won't move in this transfer window, then we'll see in June."

Giovinco, nicknamed The Atomic Ant due to his size and explosiveness, has been with Juventus since the age of nine - but despite such immense loyalty, he has endured multiple loan spells and frequent omission from the first-eleven.

Therefore, at the age of 27, it appears the time is finally right for the Italian forward to leave the Old Lady - and England could be his preferred destination.

The 21-time capped international spoke of his discontent in November, claiming something was 'wrong' at Juventus.

He said: "There's something wrong, that's obvious.

"The whole season has been a bit like that, so we'll see what to do. I don't think I'll move in January, we'll see in June."

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with a move for Manchester City's James Milner.

Rodgers remained non-committal on the latest rumours surrounding Milner who is attracting plenty of interest as he is heading into the last six months of his present deal.

"James is a wonderful player, an outstanding footballer, but players get linked consistently here through agents trying to, by virtue of association, get a better deal," said Rodgers.

"I will never speak about any player until they were signed in the door. You can fire a list of names at me and you will get the same response."

City have not yet given up hope of persuading Milner to sign a new deal with the current champions and their manager Manuel Pellegrini feels a breakthrough is close.

"I hope that James will stay here and he will sign his contract in the next few days," said the Chilean.

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Martin Montoya after the player's agent admitted the defender wants to leave Barcelona.

Despite the 23-year-old recently receiving a recall to Luis Enrique's first team, the full-back is still keen to head for the Camp Nou exit door - in this transfer window, ideally.

"Since we wrote to the club, Martin has played four times," Juan Dios Carrasco is reported to have told Spanish radio station Cope.

"This made us happy.

"We would rather he is on the pitch than on the bench or in the stands.

"But our idea is still the same and the player wants to leave."

A product of the Barcelona academy, Montoya has found his opportunities with the senior side limited since making the breakthrough back in 2011, making just 40 appearances for the Catalan outfit.

Liverpool have been growing an interest in Montoya recently, and such comments could lead to a bid from boss Brendan Rodgers, who is keen to bolster his defensive options.
