He was goalkeeper of the year in Belgium in 2013-14 and Liverpool have checked on his form.

Any deal would not be done in this window but could proceed in the summer if Ryan continues to impress.

Al-Habsi backs Ryan for Liverpool

Oman's former English Premier League goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi believes his Socceroos counterpart Mat Ryan has what it takes to make it in the world's most watched football league.

Al-Habsi, who plays for second-tier Championship side Wigan, has played 101 Premier League games and is full of praise for Club Brugge's Ryan.

According to the UK media, English giants Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the Belgium-based Ryan at the Asian Cup as they look to replace Simon Mignolet.

The 33-year-old Al-Habsi, who is the only Omani to play in the Premier League after lining up for Wigan and Bolton, believes Ryan has the talent to make it at Anfield.

"He's brilliant," Al Habsi said of the 22-year-old Socceroo.

"He has been fantastic in the World Cup and here in the Asian Cup."

Al-Habsi came up against Ryan at the Asian Cup with the Australian getting the points in the Socceroos' 4-0 drubbing of Oman.

"In the first game, and against us he did brilliantly," Al-Habsi said.

"He's young, he can only improve and of course Liverpool is a big club and for him it would be a great chance to make it."

Not too long ago Al-Habsi was linked with a move to Merseyside as a replacement for the injured Tim Howard at Everton, but he says he is simply looking forward to heading back to Wigan and helping them get out of the drop zone.

"I'm back to England and hopefully to see the team and get back to the team winning. I have six months left," Al-Habsi said.

With any luck Al-Habsi will see Ryan in England well before the end of that contract.

Liverpool are said to be keeping tabs on Radamel Falcao, who looks unlikely to join Manchester United on a permanent basis.

The Colombian striker has struggled for goals since joining United on a season-long loan deal from Monaco and, unless there is a big improvement, he will not be staying beyond the end of the season.

United would have to pay £43million to complete a deal, but any other interested club would hope to pick him up for significantly less, should he return to Monaco.

Despite struggling for goals and game time, Falcao is still attracting interest, with both Liverpool and Arsenal said to be keeping tabs on his situation at United.

Manchester City have also been mentioned but a move looks unlikely following the arrival of Wilfried Bony.

No thanks. Falcao looks washed up as a top draw striker and has lost a yard of pace since his injury. His wages are also ludicrous.
“You cannot transfer the heart and soul of Liverpool Football Club, although I am sure there are many clubs who would like to buy it.”

Agree about Falcao. Didn't want him at the summer, and I definitely don't want him now. That guy's done.

Got to say, this thread really is 1,000 pages of cr@p!  We've been linked with every player born after 1975 at some stage and so few of the rumours have resulted in a lad joining the club! Goes to show the papers make it up simply to fill the space on a slow news day.

Anyway, game on. Anyway for Messi again....?

Real Madrid plan on selling Karim Benzema to Liverpool to fund a move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

Benzema has been linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks and the Frenchman is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League due to growing tensions between him and Real boss Carlo Ancelotti.

According to the Spanish media, Madrid are prepared to sell Benzema next summer for around £40m.

And the European champions plan to reinvest the money to sign PSG hitman Cavani, who is also unsettled and looking for a new club.

Liverpool are in pole position to land Ipswich starlet Teddy Bishop.

Midfielder Bishop, 18, is on the radar of the Premier League's big guns after breaking into the Ipswich side this season, making 18 appearances for Mick McCarthy's automatic promotion hopefuls.

And Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is determined to win the race for the £10m-rated teen.

The Reds made an enquiry about signing Bishop this month, but were told he is not for sale. However, Ipswich's stance is expected to soften in the summer.

The Tractor Boys, whose other prized asset, defender Tyrone Mings, is a target for Arsenal, are bracing themselves for offers for Bishop once the season is over.Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham are also among Bishop's admirers and have had him watched regularly this season.

But it is the men from Anfield who are pushing hardest to try to get a deal done.

Forget all the other rumours, this sounds about right for us, a 18year old from Ipswich

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their reported attempts to sign Club Brugge goalkeeper Mathew Ryan after his agent confirmed the Australia international wants to play in the Premier League.

Brendan Rodgers is believed to be keen on bringing the 22-year-old to Anfield to bolster his options in goal.

Ryan's agent Mikkel Beck has welcomed interest from Liverpool - although he insisted the goalkeeper is unlikely to move to England's top-flight this month as the 22-year-old is currently representing Australia at the Asian Cup.

"I have read the reports that Liverpool are watching Mat, but I am unaware of concrete interest from them," Beck told Goal.

"It is normal that there are rumours surrounding him as he is a top talent. We will sit down in the summer and talk about things and if there is something concrete and something special that comes up we will consider it.

"Playing in the Premier League would be of interest to Mat as it is one of the best leagues in the world and knowing how ambitious Mat is, it is the kind of league he would like to play in.

"He is happy at Brugge, but if concrete interest comes we will sit down and have a discussion."

Just the one 'In' i.e. Jordan Ibe. Was hopeing for a GK, but as we have no money, and dependent on sales, it doesn't look likely.

Liverpool and Tottenham's hopes of landing Ezequiel Lavezzi have been boosted with Paris Saint-Germain looking at Arsenal and Manchester United target Paulo Dybala as a possible replacement.

Lavezzi's future at the Parc des Princes has been up in the air since he failed to report for a mid-winter training camp in Morocco at the start of the month.

And while Laurent Blanc has claimed that it would be difficult to see the Argentine leaving this month, that could change if PSG pull off a deal for Dybala.

The Palermo star - dubbed the new Sergio Aguero - has attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs but so far noone has been willing to match the Serie A outfits £31m asking price.

But reports in France suggest that PSG will pay that amount, if they can offload Lavezzi.
