Luis Suarez signs for Barcelona

Stu I know what you are saying but we actually did alright when Luis was banned for 10 games. The record was LOST 1 DRAWN 2 WON 7. Admittedly Sturridge was not injured at that time. It's all about adapting and determination. The recent Spurs game was an example of what can be achieved when key players are missing. Gerrard, Sturridge and Enrique would be a serious loss to any team. You're right and I have said it myself that strength in depth and overall quality is a serious problem and must be addressed if we are going to get to the next level. The next few games will be an interesting barometer.

congrats to him on picking up his award for the supporters player of the year  :buttrock  wholly deserved.

on another note the lad is completely on another level and by far the best player in the club and league this season. his influence for us is similar to what bale did for spurs and as most of us realise thats near impossible to replace.
suarez was always quality and just needed a better platform to shine and now he has it we just need to keep him here  :nod

agree.
on sturridge though  :;):  he's always fecking injured and cannot be relied on for a season. he also has the qualities but man his injury record is poor. he was injured when we bought him and must have had at least another 4-5 since then. we need another quality striker

Ayre has flown out to meet his agent to talk about a new deal worth £200k a week. Just give him whatever he wants. He's worth it.

Personally I detest the wages some modern day footballers receive. Downing, Carroll and Cole instantly come to mind as ridiculously overpaid individuals with very limited talent and to be honest I was delighted to see the back of all of them. Fans paying well over £45 to watch players of that standard frankly makes me sick to the stomach. We have made so many mistakes in the transfer and remuneration area that it is very little wonder that FSG wanted to reduce the wages bill substantially and err on the side of caution when buying players.Having said all that Suarez is a very different matter. Personally I would pay an extra £5 to watch a game if his name was on the team sheet. The same used to apply to Stevie Gerrard. Suarez is worth over £200k a week. He is an entertainer and a phenomenal footballer. The club is more attractive to sponsors because of him, well most of the time providing he doesn't go on a nibbling session.Suarez is the difference between success and failure. He is quite easily the best player I have ever seen at Liverpool. Ayres has his critics. He now has the opportunity to get everybody on his side by getting Suarez to commit his future to Liverpool and if that takes £250k a week then give it to him along with anything else he wants.I think he is that good and so important to our future. I'm also more convinced than ever that Ferguson desperately tried to destroy his career at Liverpool because he knew just how good he was and the bitter old kunt struggled to accept that Suarez played for Liverpool.

obviously luis wants to earn top dollar just like everybody else but imo thats just the half of it.
if ayre and co want to really keep luis here then they need to bring in at least one other marquee name a la what arsenal did with ozil to show luis that as well as earning big money at liverpool he can win big trophies too.
i dont think it`s ever just been about the money for luis, with his talent he could have milked tens of millions from clubs owned by oil billionaires if he wanted to, but the game itself matters to luis, you can see that every time he steps out onto a pitch.

Yakka I totally agree. Luis unfortunately became understandably frustrated with what he witnessed happening at the club. Players brought in on crazy wages at idiotic transfer fees. He had to play alongside the likes of Cole, Downing and Carroll who were all earning substantially more than him. Yes he may have accepted that if any of the players had the ability to get into the CL and actually do well in the competition. We cannot afford to make anymore Borini or Aspas type of mistakes. Those players really do not deserve to be on the pitch with him. If we don't give him a stage to succeed on he will leave and who could blame him.

If he keeps up this form we should offer him anything he wants to stay.  Just make sure there is no buyout clause or if there is its much higher than what we seen offered over the summer.

I'd even consider making him permanent captain next season if he can help us get top 4 and not go biting opponents.

the bottom line with suarez is champions league football and to be able to compete for titles.
if he signs a deal it will be on his terms and not the club's, he won't allow himself to be in a situation again where we can put the foot down and refuse him a move he wants.

If the rumors I heard a few weeks ago (I think I posted them here as well) are true, then there will be a release clause. It will be 100 million pounds. I can't complain with that.

I think that there won't be any deals signed by Suarez until the season ends though. Still too early IMO.
