after weighing up the pro`s and cons he`s probably thought to himself that if he stays here -

1. he`ll be the main man (the team will be built around him and set up for him)
2. he`ll be surrounded by team mates he gets on with and not prima donna`s who may get jealous if he starts stealing their thunder, the likes of madrid and barca are notoriously political behind the scenes with factions and cliques in the dressing room.
3. he`ll be plying his trade in the most watched domestic league in the world for a club that has a massive worldwide fanbase
4. he`ll be playing in the CL for a club synonymous with the competition
5. he`ll be earning nearly a million pounds sterling a month.

there`s a lot of plusses there, just need to finish in the top 4 now!
if we manage to do that the future will be very bright, a lot of players will want to come here and play alongside suarez.

Its just remains to be seen whether or not Rodgers can attract players of the right quality.

With regards to the manager I'm still very much on the fence. He's made some exceptionally good decisions since he's been here but he's shown inexperience in a lot of others.

and no (I repeat, NO) talk of release clauses..

Personally I detest the wages some modern day footballers receive. Downing, Carroll and Cole instantly come to mind as ridiculously overpaid individuals with very limited talent and to be honest I was delighted to see the back of all of them. Fans paying well over £45 to watch players of that standard frankly makes me sick to the stomach. We have made so many mistakes in the transfer and remuneration area that it is very little wonder that FSG wanted to reduce the wages bill substantially and err on the side of caution when buying players.Having said all that Suarez is a very different matter. Personally I would pay an extra £5 to watch a game if his name was on the team sheet. The same used to apply to Stevie Gerrard. Suarez is worth over £200k a week. He is an entertainer and a phenomenal footballer. The club is more attractive to sponsors because of him, well most of the time providing he doesn't go on a nibbling session.Suarez is the difference between success and failure. He is quite easily the best player I have ever seen at Liverpool. Ayres has his critics. He now has the opportunity to get everybody on his side by getting Suarez to commit his future to Liverpool and if that takes £250k a week then give it to him along with anything else he wants.I think he is that good and so important to our future. I'm also more convinced than ever that Ferguson desperately tried to destroy his career at Liverpool because he knew just how good he was and the bitter old kunt struggled to accept that Suarez played for Liverpool.

Shit I actually got something right for once !! What do they say about a stopped clock

Brilliant news. Well done to all concerned but most of all Rodgers, Ayres and the owners who have had some distasteful criticism in the past. They now need to seriously get the cheque book out in January which I see as phase two if we our to have a truly outstanding season.

Well now, this is a surprise. I hope that there's no catch in all this, that he really wants to stay with us and sees that this club has a future with him being our main man of course.

If he still plans to leave then I hope we've made sure that he can't leave for anything lower than 80 million or something like that.

Good news all round. Nice to see Luis acknowledge the support he's been given too.

But...What's the contract length and is there a release clause?

Yeah, we haven't exactly been given the important details. For all we know it could be just a pay raise.

He's just got the worlds best striker to sign a new deal, if that doesn't make a statement to other potential signings I don't know what will. I think its a very smart move by the club, it will show to the world that we are determined to keep our top players and have the will to get to the top. If Suarez had been at Spurs, they would be resigned to him leaving and just be trying to get as much for him as possible.

I think he is happy to stay though if we progress enough.

Never hated him mate. Never will. What he did in the summer has possibly galvanised this club into action and given it the serious kick up the arse that it desperately needed. Just a thought  :D

I never hated him, far from it, I didn't blame him.

I was gutted, but certainly didn't blame him.

What a season the lads having though and what a player.

Also news in the contract length 2017 :) One year extention and double his money.

Happy days, if we get two more years after this one, his best years will have been spent here, can't ask for me than that. The lads a superstar! :nod
