Just been reading up on various sites about this guy and he used be a striker until he went to Benfica then they tried to convert him and he cant defend for ***** but is ok going forward. Benfica are bringing in another LB because this guy has been so poor - The Benfica fans on twitter etc dont rate this guy at all. He cant even get into a Paraguay team which is shocking at the moment but he is on loan and cheap - Perfect signing for us then

I always felt Skrtel or/and Coates may leave.

We need a new centre half, I don't think it's a 'selling to buy' situation, clearly Skrtel if he leaves would probably do so because he is not 1st choice.
To be honest that's decent money too, he wasn't great last season.

Do you have any other sources for that Greek move, I cannot see any recent updates on other LFC forums.

If we can get some left back cover and a new centre half , and Skrtel does leave, that surely means we have money for a couple of quality players.
Even if Suarez stays.

If we got the Greek lad then Skrtel would be 4th choice CB. Doubt he'd be too happy with that so it would make sense for him to leave.

I imagine Coates will leave too. The other day I heard Rodgers say we had Agger, Toure, Skrtel and Wisdom for CB. Then he said Coates too. It was as if he almost forgot about Coates.

Think Coates hasn't been given a fair chance so far - last season we needed a strong CB and Coates wasn't given a chance - he was thrown in against Oldham after hardly playing for ages and it was clear he was rusty. He has all the attributes to be quality CB and has shown it - if he goes I hope it's on loan to show how well he can play. If we sell him we will regret it I believe

It can't be easy for him, but it's a difficult situation he needs a regular run, but I can't see him getting that.
I don't think Coates is suited to the English game.

How many chances shall we give him? How many games of teams exposing him shall we go for before we accept he's not good enough? How many goals against due to his awful defending would you be happy conceding before we ship him out?

Coates may well not be suited to the english game - but we surely need to give him a chance to find that out.

He has played a total of 12 prem games in the last two seasons

If you want to use cbs being exposed and goals being let in against them due to his awful defending then Carra and Agger would be gone after last season.

Guess how many times we lost when Coates played last season in the prem - have a look at this and see if it helps you out

has coates even started 15 games for us since he has been here ?.
i wouldnt say he has and thats including sub appearances. you are making out that he is a serial failure every week with how many chances should he need, how many teams exposing him and all the goals he cost us :laugh:

he will go and it wont be because he is a poor footballer but because he never stood a chance under rodgers.
