to me he`s a decent striker, it`s just that we are losing one of the best players in the world, replacing him with a decent striker is a step backwards imo.
at least the likes of muriel (i know the links are tenuous) and bernard potentially have very high ceilings, if rodgers can do with either of those 2 what ferguson did with christiano ronaldo then we will be flying but i just cant see how this soldado will move us forward in any way.
dont forget luis scored 30 goals last season and caused all sorts of havoc, even a 20 goal a season man is a step backwards.

not to mention soldado is 28 and will be 29 when the season ends in may, £25m is an awful lot of dough for someone that age.
i will be surprised if fsg fork out that amount for a player not a million miles away from 30

your just not sold on soldado at all mate  :D   we will never find another suarez and for me the most important thing is getting someone who can score goals. id rate that yilmaz lad as well but i think he is the same age and would cost around the same fee.
muriel is a top prospect and exactly the type of prospect the club should be signing, he's young and could play wide if needed and from a google of him earlier it says that he earned a salary of €300k in 2012

Fine, Yakka, we'll have both Muriel and Soldado. Do we have an agreement? :D

Like I've been saying the whole time, one player wont be enough to replace Suarez. We'll need to sign at least two quality players to replace him and I wouldn't mind if we bring in any of the three players we're linked with (Soldado, Muriel and Eriksen). We'll talk about which option is best if/when the time comes.

I know what you are getting at but how do you successfully replace one player with two players? I really wish it was that simple. It is like saying you could replace Messi with three players but how do you do it? Two very good players do not make one brilliant player and they certainly don't replace the brilliant player.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years 20/21 to 24/25  (10 years
are in brackets 15/16 to 24/25 )
LFC €300m (€420m)
Everton +€33m (€211m)
Arsenal €557m (€853m)
Spurs €571m (€684m)
Chelsea €945m (€1051m)
Man City €370m (€1038m)
Man United €687m (€1240m)

What I mean is, we should bring in two attacking players with the money that we get from Suarez. That way we'll strengthen the team in overall. Add a CB to that and we're good to go.

Maybe it would be far wiser if they took into account the impact a certain Dutch 29 yr old striker had on the Mancs last season  ?
We could still get 3 years out of Soldado and if he aids our quest for Champions League football he will come relatively cheap at the
price ,sure Its a gamble ,but which player outside of those in the Premier league isn't ? Liverpool have to speculate to accumulate mate.

I know exactly what you are saying I'm just not sure that it is the answer to a difficult problem. When we lost Torres he was half the player he was at his best. Luis is at the top of his game and like it or not we desperately need him next season even if his behaviour is somewhat bizarre.

Postby red till i die!! » Sat Jul 27, 2013 8:42 pm

After reported interest from Premier League side Liverpool, Udinese starlet Luis Muriel has confirmed that he will remain with the Zebrette for at least one more season.

While revealing that he intends to leave the Bianconeri at some point in the future the 22-year-old was also asked about the clubs he admired and playing with Zebrette legend Antonio Di Natale.

“We have talked about many clubs after me, but I said I wanted to stay here another year,” Muriel told Sky Sports Italia.

“What clubs do I like? I looked at the Barcelona with Ronaldinho, I’ve always wanted to play with great players like him, [Lionel] Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

“We would all like to, I would like to play alongside any top player.

“[Di Natale] is a great striker and is important for me to have him at my side, he will score many goals in this [coming] season.

“Nevertheless I hope to make the most of it, in order to help the team.”

that soldado looks set to join spurs too, he`s even considering putting in a transfer request to force through the move to north london.
apparently spurs`s director of footy has flown out to valencia and AVB has admitted publically that they want to sign him.
