Well, if the Hammers go through with the Downing deal it's an unlikely source for us to find an ally in, fat Sam to the rescue.  :D

I'd even go so low as 5M but ideally hold out for around the mooted 8M.

He's coming onto 30 now, next year is the last year of his contract and he's on high wages, on the field he's a passenger who often hides amongst his colleagues. His "experience" of mid-table obscurity has brought feck all to us as a team because he has the mentality of a limp wristed fart, GET RID  please

With our luck, we'll sell Downing to West Ham, he'll get 8 goals and 15 assists this year, and Carroll will bank in over 20, mainly from the service of Downing.

both Carroll and Downing are not players of quality. No matter where you go, you can't do exceedingly well unless you have some basic attributes to your game. Carroll is completely useless and he'll prove as much at West Ham. Downing will probably do 'fine' because he has the basic tools to be a decent footballer.

If we get 8 million, and get a good replacement, it may not be such a bad idea. I hope Suarez stays though. Also, I'm becoming desperate to know who we're targeting after we lost on Micky Ryan. It's all gone too quiet now.

Me neither. Probably the strangest deal ever. Buy a player he looks decent dont play him then look to sell next season.

I think it is unfair to call Carroll "completely useless" - in the right set up Carroll will provide a very good threat up front - he has proved that on a number of occasions with us as well - give him the right service and he can be a dangerous player.

Carroll single handedly tore apart City a couple seasons back, Chelsea in the FA cup final (too bad he only had 30 minutes) and Chelsea in the prem soon after that.  For West Ham he caused all sorts of problems on numerous occasions, including against United where they clearly couldn't cope with him.  He clearly has something very valuable to offer, just not at LFC.

not to mention the demolition job he did on skrtel and soto up at st james park.
if we dont bring in a papadopolous type CB i can see carroll smashing our defence again next season, if the likes of jon walters, carlton cole and shane long had us at sixes and sevens at the back i shudder to think what carroll will do, especially if he feels hard done by.

We aren't linked with him this time but do you think they may still go back in for Ince with the 3m kick back in the bag?

I know hes heavy linked with Cardiff but deep down I reckon he wants to come back here and would in a shot if we met
the £8m, well £5m to us, price.

Fine. He "tore apart" those teams. He's a "beast".

He's gone. Let's move on.  :D

I thought this was the RUMOUR of the day thread, not the Andy Carroll or some other player who has moved on thread? As for Andy Carroll while am at it. I couldn't give a flying fook where he,s gone what he,s going to. He does not play for LFC my only concern.

If you think this forum is like an abandoned ghost town now, just wait until we start trying to stay on topic.  :D

I'd buy Carroll back for 3m as back up.
