You were trying to understanding Rodgers' thinking and I tried to explain what I think it is as it seems obvious.  Is that OK by you?

Of course it's ok.

I know what Rodgers is thinking - but I don't understand it. It's the same with a lack of a physical DM - I can't understand how he can't see the problem

I think Toure has the potential to become the new Gary Mac allbeit in a different position, I mean in terms of experience, leadership and a role model like Macca to the youngsters and look what he atchived. We haven't really had anyone like him since. Also which I did mention a while back, I think we missed the boat when QPR were relegated ( Good riddance)  in not making a quick move for Samba, which is becoming a trademark in the last few years. Maybe we should change our name to LASTMINUTE FOOTBALL CLUB!! (I'll get my coat, but I do have Brain damage)

Barce took him on loan for the reserves and didnt take up the option to buy - that tells me a story - they didnt rate him highly enough

You said it was a "good signing".

Now because Barca aren't interested in signing him, you're rubbishing him. Are you Daniel Levy in disguise?

According to reports Bolton Wanderers have failed in a bid to take Liverpool starlet Raheem Sterling on loan.

The Daily Mail claims Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman is eyeing the young Anfield winger.

However, it seems that the Anfield club will not entertain such a deal.

Consequently, it is understood he is looking to agree a loan deal for Newcastle United winger Sammy Ameobi.

Reported Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur target Christian Eriksen is still in contact with 'certain clubs', according to the Ajax star's agent.

The Denmark attacker, whose contract expires next summer, has been linked with a £15million move to several of Europe's biggest clubs, including Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan.

And Eriksen's representative, Martin Schoots, claims there is ongoing dialogue with several parties who could be interested in signing the 21-year-old.

"We are still keeping in touch with certain clubs." Schoots told Sporten.dk.

"That will always be the case with a player like Christian. At this point, it is hard to tell if it will end up with a transfer."

But Eriksen will apparently not walk out on Ajax for free in 2014 and so will be happy to sign a new contract with the Dutch giants if he does not move before then.

"He wants Ajax to get money for him and therefore he will extend his contract, in case he does not succeed in finding a new club," said Schoots.

Meanwhile, Ajax have signed 16-year-old Markus Bay from Brondby.

Le10 Sport have reported today that PSG defender Mamadou Sakho has hinted he could be on his way out of PSG which will put Liverpool on alert. The player has been a target for the Premier League club as Brendan Rodgers looks to add some extra steel into the Liverpool central defence and create more competition.

The 23 year old has concerns about his future with the French champions because he is concerned about new defenders coming into the club, which could mean his chances are limited. Reports in France say Sakho will consider his future if any more players are signed by PSG.

With the World Cup in Brazil only a year away the 23 year old will need to be playing regular first team football and may see his situation in the French capital as a hindrance to making the France squad.

Sakho did play a major part in PSG's success last year but this was mainly down to the absence of Thiago Silva. The Brazilian has since returned to full fitness and form so he is likely next season to partner fellow countryman Alex in the heart of the defence, and that's prior to any new additions being made.

New manager Laurent Blanc is well aware of the interest from Liverpool for his defender. Speaking to the French media recently the ex French captain said he was aware Liverpool are on the lookout for the player and he knows he is thinking about his future at the club.

Blanc was also the French manager when Sakho wasn't selected for the Euro 2012 squad which still lingers with the player. Sakho has gone on record as saying he didn't like the experience of watching the Euros on television and has vowed that this won’t happen again. Since Blanc stepped down the defender has been a regular fixture during France’s World Cup qualifying matches.

Laurent Blanc is quoted as saying about Sakho's future and Liverpool interest "He'll see what his status is in the team... One thing is certain, Liverpool is always on the lookout."

Sakho was quoted by the Daily Express at the beginning of this month as saying "I am flattered by the interest of historic clubs like Liverpool and AC Milan. We will see what happens in the near future.

"I have to make a decision. PSG is my club, I was born here and I learned my football here. I want to play for this club all my life, but it is clear that I do not want to sit on the bench."

The Liverpool Echo disputed claims that Brendan Rodgers was interested in Sakho but given both Blanc and the defender himself have talked of the club being interested, there's every possibility they are wrong. Sakho is a good player and would be a decent signing for Liverpool, he wouldn't break the bank either.

Well we definitely need a commanding centre half, it should have been the priority. And for me a left back too.

I just hope we are not in the position of having to sell before we buy, surely that can't be correct as we were supposedly in for that £20m lad who went to Dortmund and
with the players who have already moved we have hardly spent anything yet.

Just seems to have gone quiet for a while now.
Suppose it's still early days.

You have to appreciate Eriksen offering to sign an extension on his contract to ensure Ajax get money for him.  That's true class there, as you see so many players run down their contracts, avoid the transfer fee and pick up higher wages.  He's essentially potentially paying Ajax his own money for his transfer.

That's the type of person we want involved in our club.

Damn rumours . I believe the 3 major( aspas , mignolet and toure ) signing is adequate with the exception that suarez still staying .
We do have a squad capable of challenging the top 4 . Anymore signing will be a  bonus .

Sh*t gets real if suarez leaves .

The question is Higuain or Benteke - if LS is to leave who would you like the money spent on?

Higuain all day along. He would be absolute quality. Benteke to me looks like on of those strikers who scores these spectacular goals but fluffs the easier chances. Certainly isn't worth £25million

I think a LB would be nice, but for me not our priority right now (although we are linked with one).

Enrique is first choice, and if he can't play Johnson is probably a better LB than RB.  Other than that we have Robinson who needs to be given a chance at some point, and Agger can always fill in in an emergency.  If all of those are somehow unavailable Downing has played there.

Of course having a good alternative to Enrique is welcome, but I'd rather focused on other areas first.  CB certainly and a DM.

Liverpool are preparing a bid for Atletico Mineiro midfielder Bernard, according to SportsDirect News.

Liverpool have been tracking Bernard with manager Brendan Rodgers wanting to bring in a new attacking midfielder this summer.

Liverpool had originally targeted Henrikh Mkhitaryan but the Armenian midfielder has joined Borussia Dortmund instead. The Anfield club also remain interested in Christian Eriksen of Ajax.

Bernard currently plays for Atletico Mineiro in Brazil and has made over 90 appearances for the club scoring 20 goals.

Bernard is only 20 years old and has a lot of potential. He recently shone in Brazil's Confederations Cup triumph and has five caps in total for Brazil.

Bernard has a lot of flair and is a versatile player. He has the ability to play on the left side of midfield and in the hole behind the striker. He is fast and has a good range of passing. Despite his small size Bernard rarely gets muscled off the ball. The Brazilian can add a different dimension to Liverpool.

Bernard's style of play is similar to that of former Spurs star Luka Modric who excelled in the Premier League. The Brazilian could inject some much-needed energy and creativity which was lacking in Liverpool's side last season.

Liverpool would have faced competition for Bernard from Tottenham Hotspur. However Spurs have cooled their interest after the signing of Paulinho.

Bernard would be an astute signing at around £15million and he fits Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers' policy of buying and then developing youth.

Big risk at 15mill for the Brazilian. Would rather spend it on Eriksen.
