With all due respect mate all this chest beating "WE ARE LIVERPOOL!!!!" bo11ocx doesn't count for much outside of our own fans. We worked our way into football's elite before, with the following we have amassed during our more successful periods we still have the potential to get back there. We have a good man in charge but we need to be realistic, more high profile players will no doubt come and go before we are back where we want to be but I for one won't be crying because another self important "superstar has passed through our doors.

Sh*t sorry guys, that was supposed to be a response to eds!

the same sort of things were said when torres announced he wanted out, the club are just making it clear that this is all happening against their wishes incase any fans think we are cashing in on him.

Soft spot for Torres and all, but no thanks !

In other news, Gomez is being strongly linked to Napoli and Fiorentina. Surely if we were going for a striker to replace Suarez he'd be on our radar.

Agree but both those are CL clubs mate and Gomez would pick either surely ?

agree with what you're saying; no one is bigger than the club.

If Suarez wants out, then fine...sell for as much as we can get.  Liverpool FC will continue and we'll (hopefully) be able to improve the squad with the money.

i wonder if the club knew suarez wanted out before they bought aspas? if they did know i really fear for us next season.
knowing that we have a potential transfer warchest of £60m+ (if you include any money we get from carroll etc) we opt to strengthen our forward line with a 25 year old who has played 95% of his career in the spanish lower divisions?  he`s only ever played one season in the top flight and thats this one.
i hope for our sakes that the club was in the dark about luis intentions.

oh you'll always get te doom and gloomers saying the end is nigh, but things will go on.  We've got some exciting players in our team now, and i'm sure we can replace Luis and bring in a couple of players for the 40-50 million fee we'd get for him.

Fiorentina arent a CL club and Napoli -despite being in the CL- are still nowhere near being considered a top club in Europe. They also have Cavani and unless they sell him (which they dont seem to be willing to do), I cant see them being able to offer him the wages he'd demand.

Regardless, I dont see it happening. Over the last 3 or 4 years, the thing I've been disappointed in the most has been the club's resignation to acting like a midtable side. You can see it in our signings, in our managers, in the way we approach the media ...etc etc

Until we start acting like the top European club we are, (and I assure you most players still hold Liverpool in higher regard than most of the other sides that make the CL year in year out) and we start going after the top players to signal our intentions if nothing else, we'll be stuck in this mediocrity for the foreseeable future. Signing the likes of Aspas, Atsu and Borini -regardless of how they perform relative to the fee we paid for them- signals our intentions and our expectations as a club. That not only filters through to the top players we target, but also internally to the top players we currently have. I wouldn't be surprised if any of the likes of Agger, Reina, Surez..etc cite the club's lack of ambition as a reason for leaving.

Leandro Damião?  He'd cost half of what we get for Suarez, freeing up cash to buy a class centre back

I'm agreeing with you, in fact I'll even go better than you...

I think we'll get relegated next season, then perhaps in 2 more years time we'll end up in the third division.
Our best player will be someone of Sean Dundee's ilk.
We'll decrease our capacity at Anfield instead of increasing it.
FSG will sell up and Trotters ind co will buy us out.
And the sun will never shine over Anfield again.

I hope this makes you happy. (sincerely, because feck all else does).

Agree fully

And the clubs mentality of accepting the mediocrity in terms of signings and manager appointment is filtering down to the fans

5 years ago if the manager at the time signed the likes of Apas or Borini there would be an uproar - we demanded quality to be signed by the club.

Signing better players will make me happy

Getting better results will make me happy

Being in the CL will make me happy

It's quite simple
