YNWA King Kenny

YNWA Alone Kenny?? But unfortunatly HE IS!! as a result of trigger happy fenway sports.

He should have been given another season to rectify his position.

I just hope they have a superb surprize candidate in store for us at LFC

it was the right decision though after a terrible season, they really had no choice. It was a really brave call from them and I totally agree that the next manager has to make an immediate impact.

you see heimdall, fans like you need to get a f*cking grip

It was the only solution. No manager in world football would keep his job after spending 110 million - that is 110 000 000 - in one year and move BACKWARDS into relegation candidates. No one could. No one should. Kenny had his chance, he signed his players and made his team, and unfortunately this ended up in the worst season since 1954. That is 3 generations away from 2012 - and beyond shocking. Having said that, Kenny can leave with his head held high because his conduct today and his statement "expressing gratitude" and heaping praise on club and club ownership. Putting club first. Unortunately the next managers first job will be cleaning upKennys mess (in particular offloading his signings with the ambition of minimizing the loss).

Why should he have been given another season, he spent a lot of money and we actually got worse! Put yourself in the owners shoes for a second, what would you have done?

Why do I get the feeling the above is insincere !  ???

Maybe it's because you have built a reputation over the years for courting publicity with your biazarre and attention seeking comments !

Onwards and Upwards ? Show a little class and at least wait until the dust has settled before looking to gush over Kenny's successor !  :veryangry

I think 'worse' is debatable tbh. We won silverware, played much better football and hit the woodwork 136,786 times. We're just getting over two terrible seasons. I wasn't overawed by the season we've had but in no way would I have sacked Kenny. Rome wasn't built in a day and after all of the effort Kenny has put into our club he deserves his shot. I personally would have given Kenny next season and assessed it from there. The transfers have been terrible I'll hold my hands up and admit that. A number 9 and a more balanced midfield would stand us in good stead. The squad doesn't need as much put into it as people make out

It was the wrong decision , 2 finals in his first season , they should of give him more time , What do they do they bring Kenny in to steady the ship , and bring the fans back together then after one season the get rid , do me a favour , and im not meaning the next manager has to make an immediate impact , they have to get it right it cant be another Roy situation were noone wanted him before he came and it got worse as it went on , it has to be right for the players to want to stay and play under them , it has to be right for us the fans , we cant be getting rid of managers every f,ucking season like Chelsea an Newcastle , they need to get this appointment spot on , otherwise them internet terrorists could very well start to raise there heads again ,

So would you prefer we go backwards and downwards??? I meant what I said with utter sincerity. I wanted Kenny to be a success but he has failed spectacularly and had to go, if it had been anybody else other than Kenny then there would not have been any debate about it on this forum so take the rose tinted specs off and look forward to a much better team and performance next season, FACT  :D

wait there do we have some people on here who fully expect a new manager to walk in, have one season of buying and selling, gel the lads, settle into the club and achieve a top 4 finish first time of asking? Some of you lot are mental

If we've swapped Kenny for some mediocre, mid table, bullsh!t whopper of a manager I'm gonna go spare

Oh please, stop being so dramatic and look at the league table.
West Brom won for the first time at Anfield since 1967.
We've had the lowest number of wins at home since 1949.
Wigan and Fulham won for the first time at Anfield this season.
Norwich, Fulham, and Blackburn of all teams have scored more goals than us!
We won ONLY 6 games at home this season, and the only team in the top 10 who won as few happens to be WBA.
The only Liverpool player to hit double figures in the league where goals are concerned is Luis Suarez.

Benitez lost his job for finishing 7th. This season, we're on 52 points, which is 11 points lower than Rafa's worst season as Liverpool manager.
And you can say what you want about the number of players Rafa bought BUT (1) he was always quick to sell them if it didn't work out (2) most of the players were for the academy and reserves (3) he made many astute purchases such as Garcia, Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, etc who went on to play such important roles over the seasons they were here.

Kenny was a great manager in the 80s and early 90s but the climate has changed today and fans need to stop living in the past. We have Man City and Chelsea who flex their financial muscles at any promising player, there's Man Utd and Arsenal who are probably 2 of the most successful clubs for the past 20 years. And then there's Spurs who are proving to be credible contenders for an ECL spot. With all these factors combined, what the club needs is a proper manager with European experience who hasn't been in retirement mode for the past 10 years. The purchase of players like Henderson and Downing for such exorbitant prices hasn't done Kenny and DC any good as well. We're struggling to attract top quality players which is why a manager needs to have a good eye in the transfer market. Look at Hyypia for example, what a player he has been at such a low cost.

I'm not advocating for Rafa to return, as the sentimental choices are not always the smartest ones, but we need someone with fresh ideas who can take the club forward.

So we sack him after one full season, which we won our first trophy in 6 years and got to a final? is this what we have become? Do we expect to get instant results even if we spent some money in the summer? What p!ssed me off that we aren't giving anyone a break these days, it's all NOW NOW NOW NOW, how long are we going to give the new one then? another 6 months?

I dont think they really wanted him as the permenant manager, they appointed kenny as caretaker to guide the club after Roy was sacked. I think after the results in 2nd half of last season and the fans reaction they felt they were forced to appoint him full time but it took them a while to make that decision and the only thing that was going to keep Kenny in the job was champions league qualification, even if we won the FA cup it probably wouldn't have been enough
