Rumour of the day - For the miserable tw@ts amongst you

Liverpool Football Club - The Rumour Mill

As tough as it is to hear, the truth is that we don't have the money to buy players. We won't next year either if things keep going as they are.

What makes it hurt is that we have been nothing but Frugal in the last few years and still find ourselves in this position. If anything we should be the ones not worrying about spending a 100 odd mil this window.

That is pretty stark reading, teams who have historically enjoyed sustained periods of success all bought from a position of strength, certainly we did back in the 70’s and 80’s and United did too.

Which is why it is so important to sell a star every now and then to be able to reinvest. Without the Suarez and Coutinho money we wouldn't
had been able to buy all those players we now have. If we do not sell in 2-3 years time we'll turn into the new Barca with a core above 30 years, very high wages, no resale value and not enough money to reinvest.

Outside of the offical website, Paul Joyce is the most reliable source of information. From this morning:

Liverpool have stepped up their interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara. They will look to sign him regardless of another midfielder leaving. Around £27m.

So effectively Fabinho would become the 4th choice CB and Thiago would give us the extra option in midfield. Interesting theory.

Thiago coming in probably means we don't bring in a CB to replace Lovren?

I think we'll bring in that Sampdoria CB Omar Colley. He has a release clause of £11m and would be decent cover for the back line.

I'm still hoping we sign that Jeremy Doku.. He looks some player for the future.

Looks like it’s done and we have ourselves a great player. I cannot wait to see him play. The fact he chose us means motivation and him gelling in the team will not be an issue. I would bet he will adapt seamlessly as that is what world class players do.

He was born in Italy, plays for Spain, and has a brother that was born in Brazil. I'm guessing with his close relationship with Coutinho at Bayern, he'll get on well with the Brazilian guys in the team.

Does this mean Gini's off to Barca?

Read some rumors about that as well, not convinced Sarr is good enough for us tbh, and Watford's asking price is just too high.
