Well, we're going to have to accept that we're going to overpay for a keeper this summer. Everyone knows that we desperately need one, that we have the money and that we'll do whatever it takes to bring in a top keeper. But isn't that a good thing? That we're not using the moneyball approach for once and actually go for the top dogs? I mean, it's not like we didn't try to go for the cheap option, we did, but sadly it backfired in the worst possible way. Now the best way to fix that is to splash the cash and go for the best there is. It's not like there aren't cheaper options that are also very good out there, but we want to go for the sure thing on this one, and that's a good thing.

Our last good keeper Reina left in 2014 and since then we have spent 9m on Mignolet and just short of 5m on Karius. I agree with previous post that we must spend big now, tried to do develop and find 2 bargains but it's failed. Appears Alisson is the target but if he's available then other teams will be interested.

We should never have had Mignolet anyway. Reina was superior in every way.

Sadio Mane had agreed to join Real Madrid in principle while Zidane was still there. What the hell is going on here?

If that was true Zidane leaving would have no bearing on the move. The manager doesn't sign players at Read Madrid.

Looks like he was all set to join Real Madrid with a offer in place.. He'd apparently agreed terms. But the deal is looking unlikely with the departure of Zidane.

Not sure what to believe ... But the story is going round quick.

Seems totally out of the blue. Surely this is all bull. Surely we're not selling Mane.

The likes of Dom King (used to be LFC correspondent for the Echo) and David Maddock from the Mirror are saying the rumours are a load of rubbish, apparently the club have said Sadio has still got 3 years left on his contract and is going nowhere.

Imo Mane would take the move if offered it and we would sell if faced with a Coutinho situation all over again so hopefully there is nothing in this.

The transfer window this year worries me as we can still sell players until the end of August so the club needs to shut up shop when we cannot sign replacements.

I'll tell you what though, we pick our target clubs don't we... RM would have to pay over the odds - which they can afford - just like Barca did. Sell one, buy 3 which enables us to put together a world class squad as opposed to team.

Mane is our best player imo. Better than Salah, Firminho, Keita, etc.

Only way a transfer to Real should be considered is if they offer Bale in return.

It is just rumour season. Mane leaving would be silly we've got something special going on here.

I was hoping we could get any transfers done before the world cup starts next week.

My gut feeling that transfer prices will steeply rise after the tournament , and we will be held to ransom like we were for the VVD deal.

For example, Fekir price could rise from 60m to 80m etc.
