Statistically he's certainly impressed for Roma but I've no idea of any of his qualities. What will he bring?

Pace. And lots of it down either flank

We should be going for Mahrez not Salah. Salah is not an upgrade on what we already have, all our current front 4 are better than him imo.

I like Mahrez but I'd prefer Salah, he's quite similar to Mane in that he's pacy and direct which was clear we missed badly when Mane wasn't available, Mahrez is more in the couthino, lallana, Firmino mould which we have plenty of

Mahrez is a proven premiership player..better than Salah in my opinion

Personally i wouldnt give the c..t a second chance here - are we that desperate like?

I don't think there is any wide foward in Seria A who can match Salah's numbers over the last couple of seasons. He is younger, faster and works harder than Mahrez. He'd go straight into the front 3 with Coutinho playing in the middle. Would be a bit of coup if you ask me.

Liverpool have agreed a £43M deal to sign AS Roma's Egyptian winger, Mohammed Salah. (Sky News Arabia)  :oh:

43m?? Fks sake, that's nuts for a player who flopped last time he played in the PL.
And I read elsewhere we're serious about Van Dijk for 50m??
The world's gone mad ladies and gents...

£43m for Salah? As Mark says he was shyte when he was at Chelsea. Yes he's got decent numbers in Italy but Serie A isn't the Serie A of the 80's, even Borini looked like a competent wide forward over there.
I remember watching Salah playing for Chelsea in a European game and thinking to myself "good job we didn't waste £11m on this fella, we've deffo dodged a bullet here, glad the deal fell through etc etc"
Now we are spending 4 X the amount on him  :(

Yes... i expectes player transfer fees to rise but not this much and this fast.... 30million plus players a couple of summers back is now costing high 40's and 50s millions.

Maybe we should just buy the Southampton scouting team !
Some of the business they've done in recent years has been incredible.
Lovren bought for £8.5 million sold for £20 million
Mane bought for £11.8 million sold for £34 million
Van Dijk bought for £11.5 million reported asking price £50 million +

ha ha you couldn't make it up. Are people really moaning now because we're spending 'big boy' money on a player, after years of bargain basement signings?
Come on guys, if we really want this to work we need to spend. £43m on salah is probably around what Citeh would've splashed on him had they wanted him.

If we wanna play with the big boys we need to be prepared to compete on all levels, including money.

This is true. But there needs to be a balance though. I just hope our scouts are good enough, and Klopp has an eye for talent enough to not splash these kinda sums on mediocre players.
