If we're splashing big bucks on this Mane lad then is he the main signing of the summer?

We will recoup some money via offloading a few players. Just wondering how many more players will we be buying considering our funds.

A LB is a must. CM aswel.

If I was Koeman I'd be over here trying to get Benteke at a knock down price. A front pairing of Lukaku and Benteke would give any team in the division plenty to think about.

Theres enough Prem money swilling about to expect an inflated market and our money back for Benteke, flipside is we pay the premium doing business with our direct competition.

Benteke will score over 20 goals next season (all competitions), even if he stays in this league.

He's a good player and if you play to his strengths he'll do well. However playing lots of long balls and crosses is not the way to win big trophies, so accomodating him can be to the detriment of a team aiming for this.

For a team like Palace or Everton he'd be a brilliant signing and we should be pushing for over the 25mil  mark even after a weak season.

Paying a high price for players from mid to low table teams is always going to carry a very high level of risk. Carroll, Downing and Benteke who we spent nearly £90m on have definitely proved my theory. Lallana and Lovren have also shown how difficult it is to move to a club with far greater expectations. I admit that they (especially Lovren) are now beginning to make a serious and effective contribution. I do however feel that buying players from the like likes of Villa, Newcastle and Southampton has proved to be one of the key failings or our transfer committee. I just hope Sadio Mane isn't another name that we ultimately add to the list of questionable signings !! I like the lad but we are paying a lot of money for a player that has not been tested at the highest level.
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years (10 years
are in brackets)
LFC £255m (£467m)
Everton £38m (£287m)
Arsenal £645m6 (£925m)
Spurs £510m (£541m)
Chelsea £788m (£1007m)
Man City £307m (£1012m)
Man United £702m (£1249m)

I agree, but its the wage demands of the top players that the LFC owners are not prepared to pay. IMO I don't blame them.
Time after time fans will say "That player is not worth that amount of money!" So if we can think it, then why shouldn't the owners?
It makes perfect sense to buy 3 players for the price of one. We can only hope that under Klopp our recruitment is more efficient...

Hopefully we can still pull off the Dahoud deal regardless of what their SP-Director is saying. If they keep him till next season then he is worth a lot less and 6 months after that he can sign for us on a free. It just depends how much we are willing to pay to make it happen.
Throw Horsenderson in or something to sweeten the deal if we have to but Dahoud is a player that we really could do with.

We desperately need a defensive midfielder and a left back. I'd also wager a new defender too, with Skittles gone and Toure released

What's the odds on Subotic coming in?

I agree with the others as well, we badly need to beef up the midfield, what we have right now isn't good enough

Our new number 32 (Joel Matip) has often been deployed in a holding central midfield role, although most likely we will see him in the centre of defence

I would settle for a left back and a central midfielder. Obviously if Sakho gets banned we need another centre back for cover.

If Benteke goes to Palace we could do worse that get Bolasie thrown in. Inconsistent but rapid and I think would be ideal for our style.

I actually rate Moussa Sissoko quite highly too, wouldn't be disappointed if we got him. But then again he's a marauder rather than the controlling midfielder we need. If I'm honest he's probably not exactly what we need.
