Carroll, Downing and Benteke who we spent nearly £90m on have definitely proved my theory. Lallana and Lovren have also shown how difficult it is to move to a club with far greater expectations. I admit that they (especially Lovren) are now beginning to make a serious and effective contribution. I do however feel that buying players from the like likes of Villa, Newcastle and Southampton has proved to be one of the key failings or our transfer committee. I just hope Sadio Mane isn't another name that we ultimately add to the list of questionable signings !! I like the lad but we are paying a lot of money for a player that has not been tested at the highest level.

What's the odds on Subotic coming in?
I agree with the others as well, we badly need to beef up the midfield, what we have right now isn't good enough
