BREAKING. Brendan Rodgers is having a medical at Liverpool after agreeing to spend £32.5 million on Christian Benteke!

Seriously, I personally rate Benteke, and he may even somehow fit with us (that's still a huge question mark), but 32.5 million is ludicrous money for this guy!

We all know he can score goals but its just the 32 mill this takes the mick.
Anyhow now that he will be our player i hope it all works. Who knows maybe playing with the likes of firminho, coutinho, milner, sturridge will bring the best out of Benteke.

Maybe Rodgers is doing away with death by football and will use Benteke as a wrecking ball.

More Chelsea with Drogba at his best than Dortmund or Barcelona.

Benteke and Origi can play the role and Sturridge will be used more sparingly.

Sturridge will play whenever he's fit. However, after last season, it's clear that we cannot rely on him being 100%. At least not without a season behind him without trouble.

So BR looks like he's covering all bases by having Benteke and Origi available.

Apparently the Benteke deal has hit a snag because we do not want to pay it all up front.

If the rumours about negotiations hitting a financial stumbling block are true it could be we don't actually have the £32.5 million to buy him    :D

Liverpool insist on the highest price for their players but wont pay that themselves.

In one way it can be seen as good business sense but on another it can cause poor relations when we buy again and
make it more difficult to get things done.

Trading players is football so you have to keep things reasonably sweet for future business.

You mean like selling Owen to RM for £7m plus we took the incredibly useless Nunez off their hands !!!

We overpaid for Carroll by about £25m !! Johnson £17m ffs !! Lallana ok player but £25m !! Downing nearly £20m and just look where he has gone now for a few million after failing at West Ham !! Nearly £20m for Henderson was top end !! Markovic still needs to show that he is worth £20m - I like him but again we paid a high price !! And as for Lovren, Balotelli, Borini and Lambert whatever we paid was too much  :help

With a list like that is it any wonder we play hardball !!!
Net Spend Over The Last 5 Years (10 years
are in brackets)
LFC £255m (£467m)
Everton £38m (£287m)
Arsenal £645m6 (£925m)
Spurs £510m (£541m)
Chelsea £788m (£1007m)
Man City £307m (£1012m)
Man United £702m (£1249m)

Painful reading....we've had our pants pulled down too many times over transfers. How much did we pay for Borini and Allen?

WHAT??? JOE ALLEN COST US 15 MILLION????
Really?
Jesus H, I didn't realise that. And Borini for 10.5!!! Dear God!
Bloody hell, reading that lot is depressing. There really are some awful numpties making some truly awful judgements in the club.
Having said that, if Benteke sticks the ball in the net for us a couple of dozen times next season, I don't care if he is overpriced. We need a reliable goalscorer at any cost.
If the money is there, they need to cough up and get it done before Villa throw the toys out and pull the plug and leave us panic-buying some bellend at the end of August.
