Brendan Rodgers is keen to change the fortunes of his stuttering Liverpool team, and is confident the dominating midfielder can help do so.

The Belgian star has been valued between £15-£20m, but the complications of co-ownership could deter Liverpool chiefs.

Roma purchased 50 per cent of Nainggolan in January 2014 for a lowly £7m, but have been unable to work out a deal with Cagliari for the remainder.

Cagliari understand they are in the driving seat, and are reportedly asking for almost double the £7m fee for their 50 per cent stake.

The Italian side need to resolve the situation by June, or else Liverpool could tempt Cagliari to offload their stake with a sizeable fee.

The Kop side are beginning to find their feet after the loss of Luis Suarez, and the return of Daniel Sturridge in the new year can only be cause for optimism.

Don't watch the Italian league too much but I've heard good stuff about this Perin guy. I think he could be a good signing if we get him.

Nainggolan looked impressive against Man City and is not just a guy that gets stuck in but can play football.

Lucas has been a good servant but Inter Milan seem keen on him and Nainggolan is a huge upgrade for us.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if we don't land him and he gets a better offer, hes a very good player.

Liverpool want to sign Manchester City midfielder James Milner on a free transfer this summer.

The Reds are monitoring Milner's protracted contract negotiations at City and if the talks show any sign of breaking down the Merseyside club are ready to move to snap up the England international.

They will face competition from Arsenal for Milner, who joined City from Aston Villa in a £26million cash-plus-player exchange in the summer of 2010, with Stephen Ireland moving to Villa Park.

City remain confident that Milner will become the latest of their stars to commit his long-term future to the Etihad, following England teammate Joe Hart, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Milner fended off City's invitation to sign a new deal last summer because he wanted to see how many games he would play after becoming frustrated at being a bit-part squad player.

And even though he has been involved in all but two of City's 26 games in all competitions this season - making 14 starts and coming on in 10 other games - he is understood to be concerned that, once manager Manuel Pellegrini has a fully fit squad again, his chances will be restricted, especially if City strengthen their squad again this summer.

Pellegrini is desperate for Milner to sign. "I think they are continuing to have conversations and we hope he'll arrive at it soon," he said.

"I always say he's a very important player for us. He always make a contribiution whether he starts or comes on."

Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to sign James Milner on a free this summer when his Manchester City contract expires.

The England midfielder resisted attempts to tie him down to a new deal at the Etihad last August due to concerns over his lack of playing time.

Milner has started the new season in fine form, and has been involved in all but two of City's 26 games in all competitions this season - making 14 starts and coming on in 10 other games.

However, the 28-year-old reportedly remains concerned that he'll fall down the pecking order once City's injured star return to fitness, and is considering his options for next summer.

City remain confident they will tie him down to a new deal, but the Daily Express claims Liverpool and Arsenal are ready to pounce should the versatile midfielder decide his future lies elsewhere.

Liverpool want to beat Arsenal to Man City ace James Milner on FREE transfer

The Reds are monitoring Milner's protracted contract negotiations at City and if the talks show any sign of breaking down the Merseyside club are ready to move to snap up the England international.

They will face competition from Arsenal for Milner, who joined City from Aston Villa in a £26million cash-plus-player exchange in the summer of 2010, with Stephen Ireland moving to Villa Park.

City remain confident that Milner will become the latest of their stars to commit his long-term future to the Etihad, following England team-mate Joe Hart, Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri, Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Milner has played in seven different positions for City and could be used as a striker again today at West Brom if Stevan Jovetic fails a late fitness test.

LIVERPOOL and Tottenham have been handed a significant transfer boost just five days before the January window opens.

After months of deliberation over a new contract, Paris Saint-Germain will not offer Argentine forward Ezequiel Lavezzi a new deal.

The news looks set to spark a bidding war throughout Europe, with Inter Milan, Liverpool and Spurs all expected to offer significant sums.

Lavezzi is valued at a sizeable £17million, however PSG may be forced to accept a reduced transfer fee to prevent the Argentine from leaving for free in the summer of 2016.

He's 30 in May though, can you see us spending that type of dough on someone that age?
Unless they are offloading him for a nominal fee I can't see us being interested.

Italian media claim Lazio could receive Fabio Borini in exchange for Nigerian midfielder Eddy Onazi to Liverpool.

It would be a return to Rome for the striker, but on the other side, as he previously played for Lazio’s arch rivals Roma.

According to La Repubblica, the Biancocelesti have spotted Borini as the player they want in exchange for Onazi.

Ogenyi ‘Eddy’ Onazi is 22 years old and already a firm fixture in the Nigeria squad.

Borini is 23 and rejected numerous offers over the summer in order to fight for his place at Liverpool.

However, after months on the bench, he too is considering a return to Italy

Torres is on a 2 year loan at AC Milan, however, I heard that he could be loaned out to AM , but only if AM loan  one of their players to AC Milan. Otherwise, Milan could make Torres' move  there (Milan) a permanent one in Jan.
