Patricio Rodriguez please!

We're being linked with Fernando Reges of Porto. From what I've seen he's a typical defensive midfielder. Strong in the tackle and physically strong but don't expect too many outstanding passes or too many goals (very similar to Lucas in that department). Good player but I'm not sure that he's exactly what we need.

More speculation about this Salah from Basel coming in next month.

If we brought in Salah (who I like the look of) and a central midfielder I'd be happy.

Don't think there's any point bringing in another centre forward as a priority because with Suarez/Sturridge his opportunities would be limited.  I think this lad Ings off Burnley would be a pointless signing.

Then again... this time last year I was saying I didn't fancy Sturridge and that Coutinho was a pointless signing as players brought from Serie A always struggle over here

just had a look at some of his CL performances on youtube, he looks a very good player, his passing for a DM is quite tidy and he looks a superb athlete.
wouldnt mind signing him.

i`d be made up if we bought that fernando that damjan193 mentioned and ryan gauld from dundee united, that would be an excellent window imo.
the chances of signing gauld are slim though, i see real madrid are interested in signing him now.

Salah? The Egyptian Messi  ?  Enough is enough guys, we need something serious, not someone that MIGHT turn out to be good. I haven't seen too much from Salah but he will be just another gamble and might turn out to be another Aspas.

Yakka, anyone can look good on youtube, you know that. Fernando isn't a good passer, that much I'm certain of. But he is a good tackler. Take a look at him in this video and look how he breaks up play. He isn't a creative player or a goal scorer but the defensive work he does in this video is a regular performance by him.



I think that he is not the kind of player that we need, but since I heard that the rumored fee for him is as low as 2 million (because apparently his contract ends at the end of the season), I think that he might be worth the risk since he's easily worth at least 10 million.

there`s some of his CL performances on youtube mate and i think your underestimating his passing a bit, he`s no alonso but he`s no worse than lucas on the ball.
i think we do need an upgrade or at least another option in that position because imo lucas has deffo lost a yard of pace since his injury, once someone goes past him he finds it difficult to get goal side again.
i`d go for gauld basically just to prepare for the day when we no longer have luis, wether thats this summer or the summer after or whenever, but gauld has time on his side and is going to be a superstar in a few years time.

Agree on Gauld.  Fantastic talent. Physically nowhere near ready for premier league yet but as I said before I'd buy him and loan him back for this season and maybe even next.

if we dont buy a talent like gauld now we never will, we arent in the market for the best players in the world so we have to buy them on the way up or not at all.
we need to plan now for when suarez eventually moves on, it`s no use buying an up and coming player the moment suarez leaves, we need to be proactive not reactive.

Yakka, I didn't say that Fernando is a horrible passer, I said that he isn't a good passer. Very much like Lucas, he'll offer next to nothing in attack, which is why I think he won't be the best player for us.

I was thinking that we need someone more like Cabaye, who can break up play but can also pass and move the ball around and even score every now and then.

But if you think that we need someone who will have mostly defensive duties, then Fernando is your man because he's one of the best at that.

Just saw the interview with Salah's mates (which is in arabic) saying that he is a 99% LFC player, but I never believe Egyptians they are full of shyte
