if we try to replace him with another forward there`s no way whoever we bring in is going to be as effective. not only that if we bring in an out and out leader of the line he is going to upset the balance we have up top.
i`d rather go in a different direction, we saw when suarez was out that coutinho and sturridge (with the likes of hendo supporting from midfield) were a potent strikeforce, i`d rather build around that by bringing in a goalscoring wideman.
when kevin keegan left we went in a totally different direction, toshack was frozen out and we went with dalglish and johnson, when rush went we went in a totally different direction again, aldo was a target man he wasnt a pace merchant like rush, i`d do the same again.

Any team losing a player the calibre of Suarez would need to make significant changes because he is simply a one off ,a truly special talent .
Its just that this player currently doesn't wish to show that ability whilst wearing the red of Liverpool ,so Liverpool will as you say be forced
to adapt. ...... Soldado would be an entirely different animal from Suarez ,but his inclusion would still make us a better all round unit.

Do people here really rate Soldado that highly? Is he *that* good?
Don't know myself but he certainly doesn't seem to be a like for like replacement...

He wouldn't be a like for like replacement - different type of striker. I think he is very good - he isn't at the level of Falcao etc but is the next level below

Make no mistake, Soldado is a downgrade from Suarez, Saying that, there not many out there that would be equal or an upgrade on Luis. Luis has the ability to win you games single handedly, makes things happen and can create his own goals. Soldado on the other hand is very sharp in the box. Type of striker who only needs to have one touch to put the ball into the back of the net. His not the fastest but at the same time isn't slow either. His main asset is his movement which allows him into position's where he can get his shot's in first time. Very good finisher but I do believe he would need players round him that can provide him service for him to be a success

I rate Soldado but not nearly as high as I rate Suarez. But having both Soldado and Eriksen (or Muriel, whatever's your choice) for the price of one (Suarez) would be good business in terms of replacing Suarez. If we sign just Soldado though, it would definitely by a downgrade.

i doubt it mate, i couldnt see us splashing out £25m on a striker if suarez was staying.
we must be desperate if we are willing to spend that amount on a 28 year old, doesnt sound like fsg`s modus operandi at all to me, no re-sale value in that deal.

I couldn't see us splashing 25m on anyone if Suarez doesn't leave, never mind a striker. Ideally, we would keep Suarez and sign Eriksen/Muriel, but that's not going to happen.

If the owners are generous, they might even spend a little from their own pocket (since, if we sell Suarez, our net spending will be 0, even if we bring in two quality replacements) to sign a quality CB. We will definitely have a top 4 side then, without spending too much money.

There is no substance in the Muriel link. Read TIA.

i dont think soldado will suit our game, we tend to sit back and break at pace. he`ll spend an awful lot of time on the halfway line and then be expected to latch onto a coutinho or gerrard through ball and race away from defenders, thats not his game at all.
the reason sturridge looks so good here is that he is perfect for that type of `one touch then turn and run like f##k` football (as illustrated by hendo`s goal against newcastle when sturridge laid it back to coutinho then put the pedal to the floor)
i honestly think muriel would suit our game better.
plus soldado isnt going to get any better at 28, the only way is down for him really, muriel is a raw talent but he`s improving all the time and the sky is the limit for that lad, he has the potential to be one of the best players in the world, soldado is decent but he never had that type of potential.
i`d rather we went for benteke than soldado if we were going down that out and out CF route.

Yakka, that's exactly Soldado's game. If he works for Spain, who have a similar system as ours, he can work for us. You might be confusing him with Negredo. Soldado is not a static striker at all.

He's no Theo Walcott that's for sure, but I wouldn't call him a slow player.
