mascheranos fulfilling his value is he.... wasnt he 20+?
And how much did we buy bable for?? surely based on performances what weve recieved from kuyt shows hes been worth 10million in comparison to other players weve bought over the years.

How much would u pay for a striker that scored 3 league goals last term. £16 mil?

He has done more than that , he has created quite a bit , his tireless running has won us games , he's tracking back , he may not be worth 16 million or so but the lad deserves credit

Kop chiefs pave way for £18m Silva

Liverpool's American owners will attempt to win back Rafa Benitez's trust with an £18million bid for Valencia winger David Silva - but could face a battle with Manchester United and Arsenal.
Kop boss Benitez is furious after the collapse of the Gareth Barry deal left him looking foolish, the News of the World says.

Now owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett know they have to do something quickly to appease the Spaniard.

They blocked a move for Barry because they considered Aston Villa's £18m valuation excessive.

They want to resurrect a bid for Silva, a hero of Spain's Euro 2008 win and an Anfield target earlier this summer.

But Manchester United are ready to hijack the deal by making their own £20m bid and Arsenal are also interested.

Manchester City central midfielder Michael Johnson has rejected a five year contract from Manchester City, opening the door to Liverpool who are reportedly interested having been priced out of a move for Gareth Barry.

Sky Sports reported that the England Under-21 has rejected a new and improved contract but that talks are still under way between the club and his agent.

Rafa Benitez may turn his attention towards the Manchester born youngster as he looks to bolster both the midfield and his base of English players.

:suspect:

Cole's Chelsea future in doubt as Benitez lies in wait
By Neil Ashton
Last updated at 9:53 PM on 11th August 2008

Joe Cole is demanding assurances over his future from Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe
Scolari after Liverpool declared an interest in the England midfielder.

Cole fears he will be frozen out of the starting XI when the Barclays Premier League season starts against Portsmouth on Sunday and he has also been spooked by the potential arrival of Robinho.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, who believes he has been priced out of a move for Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry, is aware of Cole’s predicament and is prepared to make a move if Chelsea indicate a willingness to sell.

Sportsmail can reveal that Scolari has not been convinced by the England midfielder in pre-season and has urged Chelsea to sign Robinho as a direct replacement.

Cole has proved himself time and again at Chelsea under a number of managers and he is willing to stay at Stamford Bridge if he believes he will be given a chance.

His relationship with former boss Jose Mourinho deteriorated to such an extent last summer that he explored the possibility of moving to Barcelona, but Frank Rijkaard did not follow up his initial interest.

The arrival of Deco, who has been the club’s best player during the their double training sessions under Scolari, in a swollen Chelsea midfield and the rehabilitation of Shaun Wright-Phillips has left Cole fighting for a place.

Scolari has also been impressed by John Mikel Obi since taking over and he is fighting for a place in a talented midfield along with Deco, Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack.

Chelsea continue to court Robinho and have even offered Andriy Shevchenko and Claudio Pizarro to Real Madrid as part of a possible exchange, but the Spanish champions are not interested.

I'd take Joe Cole off their hands no problem.  Creative player who is comfortable out wide, always looks a threat when Chelsea play us.  We could do with him more than Barry to be honest.  Bet there's nothing in this though.

According to The Mail Online, Liverpool could be about to snap up Chelsea midfielder Joe Cole after the English midfielder’s failed to impress new boss Phil Scolari in pre-season at Chelsea.

Cole could be the man Benitez was talking about when the Spanish boss was quoted saying ” Maybe he can play in three different positions - that is a positive thing. I am talking about one player, but I won’t say the name ” and that the player was also English.

At the time Gareth Barry was thought to be the man in question but with Joe Cole able to play 3 positions comfortably including, can play left midfield, right midfield and a central attacking role.

Cole has been previously linked to Liverpool throughout his career especially before he joined Chelsea in 2004.

No Silva Lining For Liverpool.

Guillem Balague has confirmed that Liverpool have made no bid for Valencia winger David Silva, although two other clubs have, including Liverpool’s main rivals Man Utd.

Balague said ” His representatives will meet with Valencia on Wednesday to decide upon his future. At this moment in time, there are only two clubs that have tabled an actual bid for the player. Barcelona are offering around 24 million euros, and Silva’s agents will argue that this is very reasonable “.

“The second club is Manchester United: there was a meeting last Thursday between a group of lawyers representing the Old Trafford club and officials from Valencia.”

With no interest in Silva, Liverpool could then stepup their efforts for Aston Villa midfielder Gareth Barry or Espanyol wide-man Alberto Riera.

Cole would be amazing to sign.. but does anyone really believe it will happen?

A) Would Chelsea sell to one of their contenders
B) Would Cole want to move up North
C) Could we afford him.  If Barry is worth £18 mill what will Cole cost??

Where have these rumours come from?  Is it just loser journos with no football story to write or has there been any movement from Liverpol to suggest this may happen??

I really hope this comes off but in my heart of hearts I just don't see it. :(
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

For 100,000 a week you ask whether he would move up north?

You should be asking whether he wants to play for the greatest club in the world AND get paid for it.
