True mate, for for a small fee your not taking any risks are you? unless you splash 15m on him then you are taking a huge risk.

if we bought mancini for 4m and it didnt work out with him we can sell him with the same amount or less by a million, hardly we lost anything have we?

I would suggest Jonathan De Guzman (playing for Feyenoord) atm. He is very versatile, and he can play as attacking midfielder. But also on the sides.
:) another gem from Feyenoord.

Or Nuri Sahin he was on loan from Dortmund and playing for Feyenoord. (1 year contract left)
Arsenal is one of the clubs after him.

After reading through a heap of news stories after the cl semi final it appears the paers are suggesting that we are linked with the following players...... and the players they are suggesting that we will sell / ask them to move on are listed at the bottom....

still dont see any links with huntelar or a heaps of other players members have expressed their desire for so its a little disturbing (barring Alves & Macini) that we arent being linked to players of higher quality...

Liverpool are understood to have launched their bid to sign Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry by tabling an initial £10million offer.

The Reds are believed to have formally contacted Villa yesterday with their bid for the England midfielder.

There has been speculation for the past fortnight that 27-year-old Barry has emerged as one of Rafael Benitez's major summer transfer tasrgets.

It remains to be seen whether Villa manager Martin O'Neill will accept the bid for Barry who has two years to run of his current contract.

But Benitez wants Barry to form a partnership with his England colleague and close friend Steven Gerrard.

Barry, who celebrates the 10th anniversary of making his Villa debut next week, has made no secret of his desire to play Champions League football.

He is on more than £40,000 a week at Villa and could come close to doubling that if he moved to Anfield or Chelsea who have also been linked with the player.

But it the desire to win trophies that is uppermost in Barry's mind at this stage of his career.

The former Brighton trainee has already expressed a desire to hold talks with Villa manager Martin O'Neill to assess what his transfer plans are for the 2008-2009 campaign.

Villa are challenging strongly for a UEFA Cup spot but Barry wants to see whether Villa are in a position to move to the next level.

O'Neill pulled off a masterstroke in persuading Barry to sign a new four-year deal when he took charge of Villa in the summer of 2006.

But he may find it harder to persuade Barry to sign a new contract and to convince him to stay with the midlands club.

Porto have confirmed to skysports.com that they will not take anything less than 20million euros for star defender Jose Bosingwa.

Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their interest in the versatile right-back, who has been very much in the gaze of Aston Villa and Liverpool.

Porto have now confirmed that they would not consider any offer less than 20million euros for the Portuguese international, who they signed from Boavista five years ago.

"The value of Bosingwa in a deal is at least 20 million euros and Porto will not even study any offer inferior to this," a Porto spokesman told skysports.com.

The Portuguese press is also linking Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona with a move.

President Pinto da Costa insists a sale is not something they are looking at, but they would obviously consider a substantial offer.

"We do not want to sell," he told the Portuguese press.

"But if a good offer arrives then it is normal that we would look at the subject."

Bosingwa admits he would be more than tempted by a big offer.

"I would accept a sale from a big club with an attractive sporting project," he said.

LIVERPOOL MAKE £10m BID FOR BARRY

Liverpool to offload £30m stars!!??

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez looks set to cash in on five of the clubs stars in order raise funds for his own summer spending.

The Daily Mail are reporting that the Spaniard will not be handed anywhere near the amount he spent last summer so instead he is preparing to ship out Peter crouch, Xabi Alonso, Steve Finnan, John Arne Riise and Jermaine Pennant.

There will be no shortage of clubs interested in the quintet, with Benitez hoping to raise over £30 million from their sales.

Liverpool ready to sell senior five
tribalfootball.com - May 01, 2008

At least five of Liverpool's senior squad are being put up for sale by Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

The Daily Mail says Benitez may struggle to match last summer's outlay on Torres, Ryan Babel and Yossi Benayoun, but he is ready to increase his spending power by cashing in on Peter Crouch and Xabi Alonso and listening to offers for Steve Finnan, John Arne Riise and Jermaine Pennant.

Portsmouth are in pole position for Crouch, whose failure to play any part in the return leg with Chelsea could prove the final straw, while Real Madrid and Barcelona continue to monitor Alonso's availability.

Liverpool target £10million Barca defender
07:11 May, 2, 2008
Liverpool Football Club are planning a summer raid on the Camp Nou.

Rafael Benitez has been handed a healthy transfer kitty for the summer, and reports in Spain suggest he will use £10million in a bid to lure Eric Abidal, who earlier this week admitted he could be on the move at the end of the season.

“There is change in all clubs and it's correct we've not had an entirely successful season,” the France international told RMC. “For now I'm here, if ever the club chooses to sell me, we'll see.”

Benitez is known to have made a left-back one of his priorities when the transfer window reopens, but what do you Reds think about the possible capture of Abidal – would he be a good addition?

Liverpool want £12m Premier League striker: Would work very well with Torres!

April 30, 2008

Rafa Benitez has been linked with just about everyone and it was only a matter of time before this hot shot was going to appear the radar

Manchester United and Liverpool are set to do battle for Blackburn Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz come the opening of the summer transfer window. (various)

It is believed both will make bids in the region of £12 million.

Santa Cruz has been one of the buys of the season and even though he has apparently committed himself to the Ewood Park outfit could he really turn down a move to a Champions League side? Surely a better buy than David Bentley! Would Liverpool fans welcome such a bid? Is there anything to this rumour or do you think it’s mere paper talk?
