Time keeping should be taken out of the refs hands, it should be some other official watching from the gantry and a horn sounds at the end of the game. This way those cheating, corrupt scummy manc tw@ts can't ferkin cheat anymore.  :veryangry  :veryangry  :veryangry
From Shankly to Brendan we follow our team, Rome to Istanbul we've all lived the dream. Our journey is long, our goal stays the same, to keep for our children the famous red name.

Don't give a shite if it was the Mancs, but that was some game today and with some truly great goals. Bellamy's second was spectacular. Have to say, feel really sorry for the Blues, cos they were robbed blind. 6 minutes 55 seconds of extra time?

I can't imagine ANY other team getting that.

If ever there was a time for a "Rafa's rant" it's now IMHO. We're playing Hull at Home next so we'll win that, and it's time to ramp up the pressure.

I'd be asking via a press confeerence whether the powers that be really just ought to give them all the trophies at the start of the season, such was the bias that was displayed right along the line. I'd be saying that when we play them this season, based on the last however many years, they've got a one in four chance of getting a penalty whereas we've got a one in twelve or whatever it is. I'd talk about certain referees who have given the Mancs a penalty in sixty per cent of fixtures they've refereed at old Trafford. I'd say that in conversations with other managers and other clubs, it was getting to the stage where people were asking what was the point? Ideally, Wenger or someone similar would get involved and make a comment (as Ferguson did about Eduardo) and the pressure really would ramp up on the officials. You'd have them sh!t scared of giving them anything.

There's a time and a place for a rant, and it's now.

I'm not sure about Rafa, but I imagine Sparky may talk this up a bit.... :veryangry

GRAHAM POLL: It's time to stop the clock-watching and take the pressure off refs at Old Trafford

By Graham Poll
Last updated at 2:50 AM on 21st September 2009

In my after dinner speech I often tell how I got the ‘hairdryer’ from Alex Ferguson on one of my first visits to Old Trafford for not knowing one of  the rules of football; at the home of Manchester United you play until they win!

For as long as I can remember fans have had the suspicion that Ferguson has an  influence over referees decisions and appointments and with Mike Riley - one of  ‘Fergies favourites’ - having taking over as the head of refereeing for the PGMOL, they will be looking even closer at the referees at the home of the Champions.

However, Ferguson was not pleased at having Martin Atkinson appointed for  Sunday’s derby, a man he has still not forgiven for what he believed was a  performance that eliminated United from the FA Cup against Portsmouth two  seasons ago.

Maybe after this pulsating game was decided by a late, late winner  from Michael Owen, Atkinson will be welcomed back any time.

Laws of the game are specific in saying that “the allowance for time lost is at  the discretion of the referee” and so Atkinson cannot be faulted technically for finding an extra three minutes in addition to the four minutes he allowed at the end of the second half.

I struggled to see where the additional, additional time came from which enabled United to score the winner. Alan Wiley, the fourth official showed the time allowed - as decided by Atkinson - as four minutes, which I felt was reasonable given the substitutions and number of goals.

There was one further substitution in the time allowed, Carrick for Anderson, for which 30 seconds is usually allowed. I therefore expected the final whistle at 94.30, as did Mark Hughes.

The Owen winning goal was timed at 95.28 and so I could fully understand the City boss’s frustration. When you’ve worked so hard to come back three times and feel that you’ve earned a point in a key match it must be galling to concede such a goal.

Such is football with the laws as they stand, though.

I would like to see an amendment to the law relating to time-keeping, whereby an independent time keeper actually records the amount of time the ball is in play.

Then once that time reaches 45 minutes the referee is informed and the half ends at the next natural stoppage.

Of course that will never be brought in, with the footballing authorities so adamant that the laws must be the same for all levels of football, but for me it really is time for change.

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

I actually had a lot of respect for Owen, until I watched him yesterday. He's just a snivveling streak of rat snot now.

NOTHING will get done about the added on time. The FA will review it but they'll find a way to justify it.

Nope, we've got to rely on the only thing that can honestly bring all this 'Fergie corrupting officials' carry on to an end...

...death.

to be perfectly honest the time added on can be justified:

After the board went up for 4mins , 1 min was added for bellamy goal+celebration, 30 secs for sub (anderson/carrick?)
=95 1/2 mins - the winning goal was scored on 95mins 26 seconds, 4 seconds within the "correct" amount of time,  i believe

My problem is that this extraordinary accuracy of time-keeping only ever occurs when Mancs are losing at OT  :idea

and if at 94mins Mark Hughes was denied the opportunity to make a substitution, then that's a shocker

As with all officiating , consistency is what we demand

What annoyed me the most was the ref giving more and more time over the allowed and then when Utd eventually scored, he blew the game up immediately. Apparantly Carricks substitution was good for 2 mins added to overtime, and Owens goal was good for 16 seconds. ???

There is a prevailing suspicion in football that to play at Man U you don't simply have to beat an expensively assembled squad of players your also up against the hierachy headed by Sir Andrex and his mysterious "time machine" of a watch that indicates to the Ref when he can and cannot add time on.

Graham Poll has intimated that referees ARE intimidated, bullied even into submission by this lauded knight who believes he's the absolute authority on all things football.

The truth is that Sir Alex is like a lot of people , likeable, humourous and amiable when it's all going his way but step over the line with him and he morphs into all that is ugly about competitive sport. Quick tempered, unbelievably biased and with a slant on football like a 1 in 3 hill !

His conduct at the post match was typical Fergie, he just couldn't bring himself to applaud any aspect of City's performance except to drone on about "noisy neighbours". It's pheraps a sign that he sees the balance of power shift in Manchester for the first time under his tenure................

Whatever the case it's disheartening for football in general when there appears to be a discernable advantage given to Utd whether it be timekeeeping, the rub of the green, penalties, dubious decisions or ticket allocation. Not content with having the largest capacity of any ground in England (70K plus) they are allowed to give only 2,900 to the away fans ???

All sport is tainted when the rules are not the same for everyone.....................
