The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby tubby » Mon Sep 01, 2008 10:40 am

Anyone seeing SSN? Man City have just been bought by some group from Abu Dhabi. According to the Anil Bhorul (talking now), they have as much money as Cheslea x 10.

DIC need to get a move on quick.

Just popped up on Sky Sports.....

Manchester City have been taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group for Development and Investment, according to reports.

The website for Arabian Business claims that a deal with current owner Thaksin Shinawatra was completed on Sunday evening.

The former Thai prime minister has been looking for new investment in the club, despite taking charge just over 12 months ago.

Shinawatra has helped bankroll a number of big-money transfers in the past but, with his assets currently frozen as he awaits trial in Thailand, doubts have been cast over his long-term future at the club.

Details
The Abu Dhabi United Group will be represented on the club's board by Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, chief executive of Hydra Properties.

Fahim said: "We will release details later, but this is a great event for both the club and Abu Dhabi.

"Our goal is very simple - to make Manchester City the biggest clup in the Premier League, and to begin with, to finish in the top four this season."
"I certainly wouldn't say I'm the best manager in the business, but I'm in the top one."

Fuck off Yanks.

The Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) is a sovereign wealth fund owned by Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. ADIA has never published how much they have in assets. As a result of this, there is some debate on how much the fund has under control. Accepted estimates have been between $650 billion to approximately $875 billion in assets.[1] On November 26, 2007, ADIA agreed to invest 7.5 Billion dollars in Citigroup, the largest United States Bank. This deal gives ADIA 4.9% of the New York-based bank, making it the largest shareholder, with Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Al Saud of Kingdom Holding of Saudi Arabia the second-largest shareholder, with 4.3%.

Is our place in the top four under threat until the yanks leave?
