Addicks part company with dowie

The Premiership - General Discussion

Postby 67-1161385641 » Mon Nov 13, 2006 9:00 pm

Charlton Athletic have parted company with manager Iain Dowie following their poor start to the season.

The former Crystal Palace chief leaves the Premiership's basement club despite having only joined them in the summer as Alan Curbishley's successor.

Dowie oversaw just 15 games at the helm but having garnered just two league victories he has paid the price, despite the fact he has guided The Addicks to the Carling Cup quarter final.

Charlton have confirmed that they will issue a full statement on Tuesday morning.

More to follow...
-----------------------

So Dowie's the first person to recieve the dreaded sacking, I think it was far too soon, it will be interesting to see who takes the job.

I'm shocked. It is far far too early. Bad decision for Charlton. They could have given him at least until christmas. Now they have to find a replacement, I can't see being managerless helping them at the mo.

Player power got him out. Any team that tells their manager "dont turn up for training tomorrow" has problems.

O'Leary is a decent manager, I would fancy sticking a bet on him saving Charlton from relegation.

it might just end up being Mike Newell should he get his bollox chopped off this week.

Mike Newell chopped his own bollox off when he blamed the woman who gave two corners to QPR rather than his defenders who apparently forgot that defenders have to well...defend.

A bit to early for Dowie, and as for Newell he should know you never win an arguement with a woman. :D
