Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby parchpea » Mon Apr 05, 2010 11:40 pm

Lucas is an average footballer with a big heart and a manager that likes him. Hes lucky to be playing at a club like Liverpool and he knows it and this is why he keeps his nose clean, trains hard and gives his best every week. Seems a decent and genuine lad but so far as being a footballer capable of earning his corn and making a real impact at Liverpool no chance at all. Next guy in charge will move him on you bet on that.

the nest position for Lucas is the bench. Perferably the Everton one.

To be fair to the lad, we shouldn't need him in any of our remaining matches with possibly the exception of Chelsea at home. If we can't beat Fulham, West Ham, Burnley and Hull without him then there's something seriously wrong.

He's still been one of our most consistent performers though, which says a lot about how below par other players have been for large parts of the season.

seriously i am amazed  :no

I agree, he has been our most consistent player, consistently poor that is. He shouldn't be near a starting lineup in any top 10 club.

This "big hart" :censored: has to stop. Sure, Ronaldo was/is a c*** but he has something which is the most important thing in football, SKILL!

Give me pace, skill and creativity over anything anyday.
For some unexplainable reason those attributes aren't valued at the club one bit :(

Wouldn't normally do this, and it isn't meant to be taken too seriously, but how many of the following would you rather have instead of Lucas?

Fletcher
Anderson
Mikel
Deco
Song
Diaby
Denilson
Nasri
Ramsey
Huddlestone
Jenas
Modric
Barry
De Jong
Vieira
Ireland
Johnson
Petrov
Milner
Reo-Coker
Sidwell
Osman
Pienaar
Cahill
Fellaini
Rodwell
Bowyer
Ferguson
Larsson
Dunn
Murphy
Cana
Malbranque
Richardson
Reid
Wilshere
Davies (Mark)
Diame
Scharner
Parker
Noble
Collison
Bullard

IMPACT!
Thats the word!!
How much of an impact has Lucas had?
I would argue very, very little, if at all. That's where the main problem lies. He does not have an impact on the defence or attack. We can see this because of our results.
Before people say I'm blaming everything on him I'm not. But his role is pivotal and he has not achieved anything there. Mundane, run of the mill, ordinary, bland.
Aquilani, in his little actual playing time, for all his faults and injuries has made two assists and scored a goal.
Thats an impact

To me, the main problem about him is his awareness of his surroundings.

The reason he lost the ball many times under pressure is partly because he wasn't aware of other opponent players behind him. And that also cause problem on his passing. Most of the time if you focus of him a bit, he would just pass the ball in front of him when under pressure. He just couldn't control a bit and switch play.

This also make his passing very predictable to the opponent and the person that actually receive the ball would be under pressure to lay the ball off quickly as the opponent has started closing in.

Which could be the answer to how many of that list cost less than Lucas.................................?
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

He's had a decent game tonight and showed heart and passion. Still not first team quality. Next season we need to buy a holding mid to replace him. Dont play Aquaman there, he has no defensive ability atall. Aquaman should just be our star sub/replacement for Gerrard. Lucas is good though but we need World class players if were to push on.

He did play well, i agree he isn't a top class holding player, but he looks effective going forward and it may be worth Rafa taking the shackles off and letting him attack more.

Yeah, obviosly he should play more forward, since he sucks when he plays more defensively.

You mean an offensive holding mid.. ie.an adequate replacement for Alonso that we still havent done that has devastated us this season. The loss of Xabi and the absence of quality is what Torres was referring to in his comments in the last 2 days.

While lucas aint good enough, he did really well tonight.
