I agree. I talked about Bolton the other day with somebody and how they would be poorer with Okocha because everything starts with Okocha. Now Liverpool have to be good without Gerrard like Arsenal was without Vieira.

Our weakness is simply set pieces. If we had defended correctly it would had been a 0-0 draw

Nah, who'd go to the Bernabau at the moment?

Madrid are fading fast and they're overrated.  Seriously, they're not as good as their marketing mad yes men would have you believe.  Barcelona will be the team to beat in Spain this year.

Brian Reade of the mirror wrote over the weekend.

I WANT you to spare a thought today for the world's newest galactico, Michael Owen.

There he was on Wednesday night watching "the best club in the world," as he called them last month, getting torn apart by a merely half-decent German side, unable to defend or score, and looking like the ageing circus act they've become.

And watching another reserve striker, Fernando Morientes, sent off the bench ahead of him to try to put things right.

Then going back to his hotel, depressed that he's yet to start a game or score a goal for Real Madrid, and watching highlights of Liverpool tear apart last season's Champions League finalists Monaco in a breath-taking attacking performance that had pace, power, panache and buckets of promise. Everything Owen and the fans were crying out for throughout his decade at Anfield.

Worse still must have been the sight of Luis Garcia in his old No.10 shirt, playing gloriously behind the main striker the way Ian St John, Kevin Keegan, Kenny Dalglish and Peter Beardsley used to in those past great sides.

Was he thinking "it could have been me?" as room service brought up another bottle of Lucozade Sport.

No offence, but I bloody well hope so

But back to the point, Gerrard.....

Our midfield with SG didnt turn up in the first half
Ronaldo put years on us and we were lucky
The second half saw us play better

SG will be a big loss but you have to have a good squad or you wont win the league and now you can see what were made of

With Alonso and Garcia I am optimistic if this was last season then I would be gutted

They have to pull the team forward and get some results for SG's return

We are in for a tough one. We have to hope that it is not serious, and we need Nunez back NOW. Btw what is Kewell doing out there. He showed no effort whatsoever.

"Steven Gerrard will be out 6-8 weeks and needs an x-ray. He has a problem with his metatarsal and we will know more on Tuesday."

We took this lad for granted. Injuries are bound to happen, just bad timing.

I hope his injury isnt that bad as we need him for our Cl games. And I hope nunez is as good and lively as alonso garcia an joseme.

Stevie says he heard a 'crack' in his foot.

He has broken a bone in his foot and will be out for 3 months.

Same as Beckham, Neville and Rooney.

Brilliant player but unlucky with injuries. I cant help the feeling that hes just seeing out his time at Liverpool. Your right, now we'll see what the rest of the team can do, without Stevie putting in man of the match performances most games.

??? x-rays dont hear cracks in bones they see them. I cant see him going to Madrid come january in there sorry state of affairs. I think he'll see this season out with LFC and then move on depending on what we achieve.
He is our backbone and i can see where alot of people are coming from with alonso, but if stevie doesnt play neither does the team no one fears liverpool anymore they fear stevie so for him to be out the aquation the oppistion are going to be reveling in the fact hes injured.
I personally can see owen asking to come back come next season or even january.

Thats not true, Im sure everyone out there has seen what Alonso and Garcia can do so they will fear them as well. I'm hearing too many different things, six weeks and three months. Nothing is yet official because Gerrard needs an x-ray which he will recieve on Tuesday meaning that he won't play against Norwich

I hope he comes back sooner than that. What do you all think about or formation? Should we go back to 4-4-2?
