forgive me for digressing for a moment, u guys need to see Fowler's goals for his Aussie club, he scored the same type of goals he did a decade ago, only that in a "lower" league.
It is amazing that GOD is still GOD.

Xabi Alonso

0 goals/shots
74 passes (92% accuracy)
3 assist attempts
5 balls won

Compare that to Lucas/Gerrard, no shots is not entirely unexpected and not much of a problem within a side like Real Madrid, but as many assist attempts as Lucas and Gerrard combined and higher accuracy of passing while only one pass less than Lucas - although it seems he was loathe to pass to a well-known diving colleague! (5/74)

why you bringing up alonsos stats for real madrid?

Because he is an ex-Liverpool player, considered a pivotal player for us by some fans and it is interesting to compare his passing stats with our current midfield

I can do what I want as long as it doesn't contravene forum rules. Why do you feel you have to challenge the way people post or what they post?! Don't bother answering, it is a rhetorical question and I don't care. It's food for thought for you to consider why one person feels they should try and control what others say or do.

Very interesting mate, many thanks. I saw the RM game and Alonso played his usual solid game without stealing the limelight. Rock solid.

So aside from all of the moaning that TCMWSNBN (The Center Midfielder Who Shall Not Be Named) is not at our club any longer, I'd just like to say I thought Lucas had a pretty fine match today.  No silly fouls in dangerous areas, some really nice long passes, True he didn't stand out as MOM by any means, but he did plenty in the holding role to alleviate tension from the CB's who were absolutely shocking today.

Well Played Lucas, you have my permission to start growing your hair again.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

:D fair play mate, feck me he must have had a good match. I only saw the last 20 minutes and he barely touched the ball (nor did a few others to be fair), although he did make one very important tackle on Dyer on the left corner of the box with about five minutes to go.

I thought Lucas had a good game today, TBH.  I think the tactic of dropping Gerrard deeper into midfield in the first half, served Lucas well.  It encouraged him to get further up the pitch and I thought he played some good stuff up there.  As usual, he kept it simple but it was effective.  He also did well to earn the corner for our 2nd.  The Gerrard dropping deep tactic was much more about giving Yossi space to operate and giving Gerrard an opportunity to get on the ball but Lucas played his part well.  The only disappointment is that Lucas had a couple of chances today to have a pop from distance when defenders stood off him and neither were up to much.  I guess we can strike long-range shooting from the list of CM attributes we'd hoped he had hidden under his bushel basket. :D

Perhaps Bob, but at least "Roberto Carlos style free-kick wondertaker" and "Zico style overhead kick expert" has still yet to be scratched off. We haven't seen em yet but that doesn't necessarily mean he definately can't do them.

It just probably does.

He wasnt a DM when we signed him but it looks like thats the role rafa want him to play.
I think some of his best performances have came when he`s replaced SG in league games at the end of the last couple of seasons when players are being rested because we are still in the CL.
He`s steady enough playing deeper but often plays things a little too simple.I think he would be a better player next to that madrid guy Alonso than JM.

Lucas needs to play a conservative and solid first half of the season to build up his confidence before being more adventurous after crimbo, I wouldnt want to see anything 'risque' whilst in september!  I still think the lad has it and plays way below what he's capable of.

I think he had a reasonable game again today, right up to the point where he scythed Cole down from behind with a tackle 15 mins after Cole had the ball....ho-hum - some things never change....

To be fair I do think he slipped for that challenge (although he probably should have approached slower given it was slippy  :D ). Torres did a similar foul because of a slip.

Lucas was tidy today. He's not going to be spectacular which is what some people seem to expect (or at least criticise him when he's not). As Reg said he needs to gain confidence and be consistent.

I'd like to see him take a few more long range shots. His goal against Havant & Waterlooville was a controlled strike so let's see more efforts. It's not like Masch is gonna be firing in 10 per season!

Hmm, all I`m saying is when he picks the ball up deep, which he`s doing quite a bit in his current role he`ll look for the 5 yard square ball more often than the 15 yard forward one.
Not a huge criticism and I`m not expecting 45 yard defence splitting balls, its just you see reg I think he`s got more in his locker too.

Aint trying to control anyone just dont see the point in it

Xabi wonted to leave so we had to sell its not like Rafa got rid of him of his own accord so i really cant see of bring up his stats for another club

Im not the one who researches all these stats to try & get people to side with my opinions all the time
