Personally, I think he has improved an awful lot this season. He has got alot more confidence and that session in the gym over summer has done him a lot of good.

Been one of our better players so far this season.

Both sides of his game have improved, his passing is better and he has deffo been to tackling school. But he does need to eliminate the clumsy side of his game.

I think playing in the more advanced role has been a benefit for him because it is similar to the role he played for Gremio.

He's not as bad as many think. I've realised now that he looked garbage last season because whenever he had to come into the team he'd have to replace one of 3 world class players.

He's only 22, there's still time. I want him to do well, I really do.

Townsend the expert eh

Itv often have him and Robbie Earle as their so called experts, didnt play a champions league game between him and they are pulling apart top players games, ridiculous.
I seen Macca was there last night though, not sure what was said as half time i go and make a drink and that and ignore it with belters like Townsend providing their insightful sh!te.

Gerrard played as an actual centre midfielder last night with Kuyt and Benayoun alternating in his usual role. Thats why he was so deep.
It was the position Alonso played last season and Lucas at the start of the season has played there unsuccessfuly but it doesnt help with Mascherano behind you if you are not a great passer or creator.
It does appear that we have two players who are adept at playing the deep sitting midfielder role but with Aquilani out only Gerrard who is comfortable in the more forward role.

I don't understand why people are having a pop at the pundits last night. They were mostly talking sense. All they said was Gerrard plays better behind Nando and that is true isn't it? Unfortuately at the moment we have no choice but to play him as CM, as that is best for the team, still no reason why Nando is so poor at the moment though, I mean Kuyt looked more threatening than Nando ffs!  :D

but isn't stevie "the best midfielder in the world"?

i think the point most people is that pundits were criticising 2/3 years ago whenever gerrard wasn't in his "natural position" in CM, and now their doing the same when he gets (temporarily, and for v good reason) put back in the middle from his more forward position...

point i was getting at...some lfc fans, as proven on here, will slate lucas no matter what, based on 2 years of being sh.i.t
some people, as proven on here, are blind to the fact he is s.hi.t, because he wears a lfc shirt.

my mate, never seen him play before, was shocked at how s.hi.t lucas was...there is no pre-conceved opinion there.  he thinks he is s.hi.t based  on last nights performance.

yet many on here are saying he had a good game....

Funny that ,where i was sitting last night everyone around me was praising him and saying how he had come on leaps and bounds this season.

Thought Lucas played ok last night, came up with some very important interceptions and tackles! He definitely seems to have been on the weights a bit over the summer as he isnt getting pushed off the ball as easily anymore!
His link up play was good, not brilliant, only good! He seems to get himself into decent positions for headers yet doesnt take advantage of them but that will improve, i hope! He doesnt seem to have any stand out feature, like brilliant passer, tackler or goalscoring midfielder!

Overall, the lad has improved this season over last season, he is by no means a top quality centre midfielder but the fact that he has definitely improved and got stronger and is only 22 shows good progress! I hope he can stay on the fringes of the Brazil team and just keep improving! Thats all LFC can hope for!

I believe some people wont ever warm to him while hes at Liverpool, but as he is steadily getting better then he should be given the chance to keep improving!

Head down Lucas and keep working hard on the training ground!

I seemed to have gained a few "mates" all of a sudden.

Im afraid i can't claim to have been "mates" with all the people sitting around me.  Just the one mate i took to the game i'm afraid.

If having a different view to you means they were all watching a different game...then i guess the must have.

Yes but Lucas isn't Gerrard so can't be criticised, I believe I pointed out that some players are above criticism at times while others are soft targets.

S@int - do you have that for all the players last night? Would be interesting to compare say Torres with Kuyt, Benayoun with Riera, Insua with Johnson and Carra with Skrtel.

EDIT - and both keepers if possible  :)

Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

I've no doubt they were, we obviously weren't sitting near each other then!!

TBH the same group (albeight a large one) even groaned when his name was read out as a starter.
So i've no doubt that they had pre-conceived views that probably weren't gonna change based on last nights game.
