ALBERTO AQUILANI - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I can only hope that he isnt brain dead and hes using this time while hes injured to get loads of English lessons, get his house and car all that stuff sorted and to study the way the team plays! If anything, this injury should be a small blessing in disguise, cos although he is doing loads of rehab work he should have that bit more time off than the other players to get himself in order so that when hes ready to start kicking a ball again he will be a little bit more settled than if he was over for 2 days and starting full time training with the lads after day 3

From lfc.tv

Rafael Benitez today revealed new signing Alberto Aquilani is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle injury.
The Liverpool boss isn't putting a timescale on when we'll see his new signing in action for the first time, but he admits Aquilani is improving as he continues to work under the guidance of the Reds' medical staff at Melwood.

"Alberto is improving," said Benitez. "We were talking before about six to eight weeks and after a few weeks his ankle is much better but he will need time.

"He's in the swimming pool and in the gym and working with the physios but he's not jogging yet.

"We cannot put a date on things and it's important to just see how he progresses.

"We are checking on him regularly and he had a scan in the past week which showed he is much better.

"It's just a case of keeping an eye on him every day. When he does start to play everyone will see what a clever player he is."

See, he obviously is Aquaman, he trains in an underwater gym in the swimming pool.

Let's hope he's the best midfielder ever in the world as many on other threads on here are pinning our title hopes firmly (and massively unfairly) on this guy.

I do not doubt for a minute that the guy is very very talented but we cannot expect too much from him when he finally pulls on the famous shirt of LFC. I hope/pray that he comes in and settles straight away like Torres did but I can't see it given the time it takes overseas players to settle and get used to the EPL.

I must admit I did a  ??? at that "not jogging yet" as well. Medical science has made huge strides, but if he's not jogging he isn't sprinting or turning or kicking a football, and his first appearance isn't exactly imminent it's fair to say.

Yeah not good news exactly but with an ankle injury I guess jogging would be quite far down the list of exercises to do. Having said that it is kind of an important thing for a footballer.  :D

But when you come from those injuries, jogging and a continuous run around the pitch with no sprints is an unavoidable part of the recovery stages. And an early one, that's the worrying thing, that we're not quite there yet!

It's a fair point, I'm starting to get the feeling that Rafa and the club got fecked on this deal.

Ah, fair point, I've been very busy some weeks and for some reason I didn't know when he was expected back.

you know what? i just found out via my translator widget that aquila is italian for eagle, meaning that aquilani means 'of the eagle' or 'eagle-like' or something. this is quite worrying as the eagle is one of the most common fascist symbols and was actually first used by the italians. the fact that alberto has obviously had cosmetic surgery to make himself look even more like an eagle supports the fact even more that he is an out an out (italian) nazi.

Some on here can find bad news if they were on a tropical beach, sipping a Pina Colada, being massaged by a gorgeous woman (yes c0ck massage too) while looking over their winning lottery ticket and being told by the the world "yes you are the man". So where is the surprise?
