Before everyone starts on Lucas, its not as if he meant to score the own goal and the rest of the team have been shite so far in the first half, so lets not make him the scapegoat again yeah?

True but at the same time you can't help but look at how much harder it is for us to create attacks now that Xabi has gone. I can understand Rafa playing the psycological card to give the lad some confidence but something needs to change. For me I think that Rafa needs to bring Gerrard back into the centre of midfield with Masch at least until Aquilani is fit and then let Lucas take up an advanced role. That seems more balanced than it is now tbh.

I think Lucas is Shlt always. But some would disagree. I'm not going to get into the argument of Lucas's ability as it was done to death. The season is still early and I don't want it to be over before Aquilani's return. Even his return doesn't guarantee anything yet. Rafa must change the player's role. Whether we like Lucas or not, we all want us to win. That's the main thing.

Sitting in the Kop last night I was full of anticipation at how we were going to beat these brummie tw@ts. I even had a ten pound double on Torres and 3-0 thats how confident I was. My confidence slowly slipped away however when Lucas does what he does best, i.e. give the ball away and gift free kicks in dangerous places. He not only assists but scores as well!
Lucas wasnt the only one at fault last night but for me he has had chance after chance and two years to prove his worth. What Rafa sees in him I absolutely do not know. At best he is a liability. At worst a catastrophe. He really is that bad.

Appaling player who isnt fit to lace Xabi Alonso's boots let alone relace him in the starting eleven. Why is Rafa persisting with a player that clearly harms the team every single time he plays? he offers nothing going forward and is a complete liabilty defensively.

I think I'd almost prefer Aquilani in a wheelchair in the centre of the pitch than Lucas at the moment.
Whatever happened to the interest expressed in bringing him back to Brazil ? Didn't some club down there offer a mankini and a beach umbrella for him recently ?

But he was never going to be an Alonso replacement. He's a completely different player.

We're missing cohesion, not any one player. Until the moaning gits pull their finger out, I don't see it changing.

Actually, didn't watch the game but from what i heard, i think most would not blame Lucas for his own goal but the fact that he is given away stupid free kick is what really pis.ses me off as this kind of event is keep repeating itself. Just think of last season. Given support to the guy is one thing but you must be realistic and not to think too far ahead. Lucas is really not good enough and Rafa must realize this and switch Gerrard back there. We need an engine running and Gerrard is the go to guy. Play Lucas behind Torres for all i care. And having Gerrard back in CM, I would certain that you will see a huge differences in team peformances.

well he's playing in the centre midfield instead of Alonso, so he is his replacement at the moment. Im curious when you say he's a completly diffrent player than Alonso, because they are diffrent one was good and the other is a joke. Your right were missing cohesion, but a huge part of that is Lucas. He is playing in a vital area of the pitch, and offering next nothing in attack or defence, he needs dropping A.S.A.P or we really will be in dire straights.

I think it's more a case of people not stopping on Lucas as they've been on his case since second one let alone day one.

He's a decent player, but not going to single-handedly win the game. Liverpool lost because the TEAM didn't play well, not because "Lucas is sh1te". There were many supposedly better players who gave away free-kicks, corners and most importantly possession while doing nothing when we were in possession.

Or put another way, who deserves more criticism - Lucas for his og or Gerrard for his stupid, senseless foul that sealed an away win for the villans? Gerrard's foul undoubtedly, the circumstances as well as the fact that he is cult hero and therefore more is expected. There are some players who simply won't be blamed, there is also the manager who doesn't get blame as it is often shifted on the owners. Did the owners force Rafa to spend £5m on Lucas..................?
