What an unfortunate turn of events. I feel for Masch, and Reg, not everyone is your wife and I highly doubt every single wife of every single player on the team care about how well Liverpool do in the league next season. This and Chelsea matching our Johnson bid, aaaah. :angry:

As for Bojan, the kid has massive potential he's only 18 and contributes quite a bit at Barca so that should tell you how good he can be.

If we sold Masch how much would it take to get Muamba from Bolton?

He's young, talented, English and a DM.....I think he would probably be in the region of 15 - 18 million. He's 21, currently in te under 21's and doing well, in the media spotlight and has 3 years left on his contract. He may cost even more than that actually.

I'll put it like this: Would you spend half the money we get from Masch on Muamba?

Young up and coming striker. 20Mil plus him is on the right track but id say maybe 23 and Bojan. Anyway we have seen how greedy these MSI agents can be. Utd offered a deal worth 25Mil to Tevez and they still said no. If MSI have really been meeting with Barca then it's only a matter of time rather than if he wants to go.

Although I am a huge Bojan fan, I think there would have to be serious questions asked about his ability to adapt to the premiership. Might make Bojan a better overall talent in years to come if he came to England, but he would probably have a more prolific season if he was loaned out to a smaller La Liga team. A very talented player who has a good eye for a through ball as well as a good cross on him. After we bulked him up, I would imagine he would be capable of playing in any of our current 4 attacking roles.

All of that said, I don't think this is a serious offer. I don't see why Barca would sell him. I don't even understand why Barca want to buy Mascherano so badly.

Muamba isnt that good.. no way is he worth more than 5mll anyways.. Bolton and Birmingham are about his level anyways...

Surely it shouldnt be that hard replacing Mascherano if he decides to go... wouldnt be too worried about it anyways... Not many names i can think of in England who would be good enoough.. Scott Parker probably could do a job but all the other wouldnt make realistic targets... plenty of names in Spain and Italy though... Wouldnt mind spending all we get from Mascherano on De Rossi... Aquilani and Cambiasso are also good shouts... From Spain theres also the Barcelona boys who are all good players and would do a job.. Toure, Keita, some of the Madrid boys and others like Senna...etc

Anyways... for 35mill id sell Mascherano... think hes worth 20-25 and would probably be of more use in a side like Barcelona than he is to us now... quite honestly if the right replacement is brought in even if it means we spend all we get from him, id be happy with the deal..

Yeh DeRossi, Cambiasso, Yaya Toure and definately Senna would be gret signings. If we sell a DM for 35mill does it mean we have to spend 20mill on another? Could we not spend less on covering that position by buying young, not sure who, and concentrate on, and put the money into, buying Silva?

Muamba was just an idea as he is English and we do need to get hold of a few English lads over the next few seasons if we're not going to produce any from the academy, he could turn out very good and if you are right in saying 5mil i would take him but I am sure they would want over 10, he has 3 years left on his contract.

On a side note when / if (not sure what stage things are) the rules come in meaning we hve to have home grown players does this mea anyone with a British passport?

I think Bojan is just speculation on the boards and nothing else. someebody said it would be nice and was their transfer of choice and it has caught momentum. I've heard nothing in the media about this swap deal. Correct me if I am wrong obviously.

im not sure.. i think i read it in a report somewhere... anyways dont think its true and Barcelona or Real Madrid for that matter would be crazy to bid 35mill for Mascherano... not with the players they have filling the central midfield positions anyways...

The Mail had him in there as part of the 35mil deal.

As far as young talented central midfielders of a defensive persuasion go . . . Veloso, Banega, Hernanes (Sao Paulo, although he has been moved further forward in the last year (but I the move hasn't had the desired impact)), De La Red (if he can pass medical), and Vidal peak my interest. Even a player like Gago, who a lot of people don't seem to rate I think would be a decent shout, if we could get him on the cheap, and in turn add some serious attacking talent that we would not be able to without selling Masch. I would throw in Nacho Camacho in the hat too, but that could mostly be for his great name, but maybe his Atleti teammate Raul Garcia would be a better option.

was thinking about putting toulalan in that list but doubt he'd be quite what you'd call a cheap option.. a good player nonetheless and would fit the bill as far as im concerned...
When it comes to young talent though, Kuzmanovic or whatever the fck his name is was brilliant a couple of seasons ago but kinda faded out of the spotlight a little this year, still a big player for a side that managed a CL spot ... a good shout imo but im sure many other clubs are interested.. Melo from Fiorentina aswell would be another good player to get...
Not too sure about Garcia (a little too overhyped for my liking) and DeLaRed , but id deffo be looking at Gago (Real paid alot for him 40millEuros i think) and Banega if the price is right...

Melo has been playing well for Brazil in the Confederations Cup and I almost threw Kuzmanovic in there. I certainly would only want Gago or Banega if we paid for prices below what their respective Spanish clubs paid to bring them over, as now it would be more a case of ressurection (not sure thats fair cuz they are so young) as opposed to signing the new hot up and coming Boca Juniors star. I wasn't too keen on Garcia, but he has been Spain's best player in the U21s IMO
