They binned Venables cos of scandal and interests outside Sven has more outside interests allowed to cash in with adverts and having affairs

He has bought some order after Keegan but a clown on an absinthe binge would

Although Welsh I dont mind it if England do well especially if some LFC players are involved but to be honest the team have never played to their potential apart from the German game

Im not one for Beckham bashing but he is not captain material his ego cost England progression in Euro 2004

Bias, big club players are in better position to get a shirt.

Defoe , Wright-Philips and James aren't exactly " big club players."

But only James gets the games. What has Barry done to Sven?

i think everyone's missin the point about why we dont like england.
me personally, i dont choose to dislike them, i just dont get the same feeling from watching them or supporting them as i do with liverpool.
as a kid i watched liverpool or was updated on their progress on a weekly basis (as thats how often they play). your life begins to revolve around how they are doin week after week, year after year. for me, i felt ( and have done since) that they represent me, as ambassadors for the city where i live. the stadium is in the city where i live, and regular visits onl enhanced the passion, aswell as every day of your life hearing people talk about them, seeing people treat LFC  like its their religion. your life is lfc. they represent you culturally. "i am from liverpool and this team will put me and my city in the spotlight when they do well."

england on the other hand, you hardly ever see them, they only get talked about when a major tournament is on. they dont become involved in your life or anyone else around you even nearly as much as liverpool would to a supporter. you see them on the tv very rarely compared to liverpool, and when you do, and you watch it, you dont get the same feeling of a bond that you would with lfc, for all the reasons stated above. you dont have any of this with england. and so its not that i dont support them, but i'm just not nearly as ar***.  i also dont feel as though they represent me and where i'm from. i'm not saying i'm not english, but the culture of liverpool and the culture of england are very different, and people in liverpool dont really see themselves as being part of the whole english culture. we are a culture unto ourselves, and our football team means a lot more to us cos of it.

then there's all the reasons regarding people like beckham and all the other k***heads that really pi** me off.
i just dont feel any connection with them, they're not a part of my life the way liverpool are.

(and they're SHI*E)

Does them being any good have any relevance on wether you should support them or not. I support england, not because there the best or the worst in the world but because there my national team. I'd cheer at a toe wrestleing bout if an english guy was fighting. It shouldn't be a case of wether Beckham is captain or if James is in goal but a case of national pride!!!! What's happened to this once proud nation?

If you noticed, my statement about how good they were was a very minor point, thrown in for a laugh.

did you bother to read my post fom start to finish?

if you feel an "england team" represents you thats sound, it doesnt represent me though, and a lot of other people too.

i'm not that proud about my nation either. its full of idiots

Jim morrison, how bad can it be?
In my country, the FA is headed by a monarch for over 20 years as the president, his son is the second man (deputy president) for some 10 years. They have 4 vice-presidents who are football administrators in the smaller states/provinces. Then there are several (I can't remember them) executive committee memners. Any dissenting voices, mainly from the exco or the VPs, would be dealt with subsequent removal in the next elections.

Needless to say that the national squad has become more and more of a joke as time passes by. In the 70s, we are one of the stronger teams in Asia, even above the South Koreans. Now, we have steadily declined until we can even loke to a non-football playing nation, Hong Kong, at home soil 3-1! If you lose 1-0, you can say that you are unlucky etc, but having conceded 3 goals...there can be no plausible excuses!

Needless to say also that the monarch president and his deputy president son are still in charge for at lease another 4 years. last i heard, this FA president asked the new sports minister to give him "one last term" to settle "unfinished business" with the local football.

How bad can your national team be?

Jim m8 your 100 % right us scousers are in a league of our own and we idolise LFC or evertonians idolise everton maybe its because even tho we are english not many english people like scousers always stereotypin us with the harry enfiled thing or slating us callin us robbers an sh#t. For me LFC is no1 and always will be since my mum used to bring me to anfield since I was 6 years old and ive loved them ever since watching them come down scottie road for years on that open top bus with all the tropheys ive got fantastic memories of this still fresh in my mind as if it was yesterday and some times the both buses would come lpool an everton the roads red white an blue fantastic. would u see this in any other city in uk? no u wouldnt imagine manure an city paradin together never in a million years so i know what you mean jim liverpool people we are our own culture and im very proud to be part of it and proud that i live in a city with the best team in the world  :)

i think what st michael is goin on about is not whether LFC are number one for us, but why we dont support england as passionately.

i dont think he doesnt understand why we favour liverpool, but hopefully he gets the england thing now

I follow three teams:

No 1 Liverpool. The team I love
No 2 England.  My National team.
No 3 Matlock Town. My local grass roots Unibond Premier team
