Who do we need to move for as of 18.07.05 ? - I'm wondering what people think we need.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Sorry if this is redundant, but Figo is going to Inter. (I really wished that he would come to us)
Owen sounds like he isn't coming.
There has been no word on Milito.
Crouch is really expensive.

I really want the informed and thoughtful people to let this young newb know how many players we will need to be really satisfied with our squad.

I've read that Mourinho thinks that after the purchase of SWP that he only needs Essien to be completely set. How many more "realistic" integral pieces do we need???

It is making me a little nervous if I can be completely honest.

I can understand if you are upset that this may not be a great thread.

But what exactly are you upset at?

I think its that its a combination of rumour and also topics that have been posted a lot lately.  This one seems to be more thought out than the others but it is still the same basic principles which is what is :censored: him off.

Real have reportedly dropped the 2M feee they were requesting last week. Figo has publicly said he would like to play in England and Inter dropped their interest in him last week.

Figo to Inter? ????

It is very possible that Figo is on his way to Inter according to this very reliable source.

To explain the exact reason why I started this thread, this Figo talk has made me really think a lot about the options that a really good right winger would bring to our club.

It would thus add to Rafa's options if he can have the "all-out all-class, wide playing, experienced, legend" type of winger on our squad.

The effort to get Crouch seems similarly to be based greatly on Rafa's desire to have options and depth.

Sooooooo, as the trading window ripens and players begin shuffling their feet, our objectives and options for the right players keep changing (e.g. Sissoko). That is why I wanted an update as to what people are realizing would be great yet reasonable additions to our club.

That is all. What was said 10 days ago will often differ greatly from the present time and I just want to be informed as to what other people think.

I don't have the patience to tread through countless pages of ragged rumors to try to get some intelligent viewpoints. Further, there is no comprehensive yet concise collection of transfer ideas in any threads on the first page of threads. They are very piecemeal and maybe people could add their thought out responses in this thread.

Exasperation at the decreased quality of our threads is understandable Mr. Moderator. But you know that I am not trying to amass vast posts. I am a very serious fan and I respect this forum.

If I was a little terse in the starting of this thread, it was because I realize that people don't want to read a whole lot. Especially if it is just an explanation of why I wanted to start a thread. Ergo, I was just concise but it could have sounded like the drivel that is sometimes found here.

So if all is well then, let the discussion continue at the moderator's consent.

Also, I read on goal.com that Real is letting Figo go because Luxemburgo is going to use Zidane primarily in a very offensive role right behind the strikers.

How is this different than before? Well, Luxemburgo wants to keep Zizou mostly in the furthermost 1/3 of the pitch.

Supposedly, with Zizou's new role, a winger of the Figo mold wouldn't be as necessary.

What I don't understand is whether or not Rafa is trying to go wider (as we have not been as much lately because of lack of human resources in that department) or if he is trying to go wider only as an option and not a primary offensive tactic.

I may be factually incorrect, but I am open to correction.

If you can't be ar'sed to read other peoples posts/threads how come you expect them to respond to yours ?

In the past week there have been a number of threads on Figo and Crouch . I suggest like the rest of us if you really want to know what other members are thinking you try reading them . FFS   :kungfu:

I assume that you have a personal issue with me because I have fully explained myself already.

As you can tell a lot of threads get bogged in topics other than the issue at hand and so lose their appeal to be read for the original thread topic.

Case in point: This thread. People may actually want to get an update, but you waste time by questioning my motives.

This thread is already dead and I guess a couple of people feel smart about themselves because they showed me.

There are lot of foolish threads started, but there are lot of foolish posters that ruin threads.

My suggestion is to have a pinned thread which states: "Do not start a thread if it contains xyz." Then have another one that says, "Do not comment if your comment contains xyz".

This policing and slagging reeks of censorship and is ironic that it is so prevalent on a discussion forum. I guess free speech and an open exchange of ideas are unacceptable if they don't appeal to the highest of sensibilities.

The worst that this thread could have done is repeat a few ideas. If that is a tremendous threat, then well done.

I didn't but I do now .

I think you've got some front telling members you dont have the patience to read through countless pages of rumours so would they in effect respond directly to your thread  and save you the  inconvenience of reading through other threads .

I couldn't give a toss about you're motives and the only time I've wasted is that spent reading thru this thread in the first place.
