Nemeth was supposed to feature some when he got back from his loan at blackpool, but he broke his cheekbone on his first appearance and took awhile to regain form.  He had a couple small injury problems in the fall as well and missed out on some of the pre-season friendlies because he was playing (very well) in the UEFA U19 tournament for Hungary.  Maybe he can have a more normal start to next season, but I would think N'Gog (who is younger by 3 months) is probably significantly higher up in the minds of the coaches, and Pacheco and LDV are young talents that are charging on quickly.

Pacheco probably isn't quite there yet, but he also made some big strides this year in terms of his strength on the ball. He also seems like the kind of player that will improve a lot when playing with other high quality players.

NGog is pretty much a fringe player anyway so id expect to see him figure more often anyway but it sounds like Nemeth is the next one to expect to see in the 1st team. Hopefully next season then. I bumped a thread on the ressies in the chat section but does anyone have the goals from the ressie game last night? 5-1 against Newcastle. Pacheco got 2 goals, NGog on the scoresheet also amongst others.

The big concern I'd have about Pacheco, is his size, and the likelihood that if putted against a cynical pairing like Ferdinand and Vidic, or any other great big mother of a defensive pairing, they'd kick seven shades of shyte out of him and nullify him on the pitch.
In some of the Reserve games I've seen this season and last, he's been pretty impressive but he's ver slight. Granted he has all the skills to try to get himself out of trouble and a wonderful touch on the ball, but I wonder if the lack of physical presence might be his downfall.
Ditto for Spearing in my opinion....
Maybe that's already being addressed by the team physios. I'd be interested to hear from anybody who knows if this is the case....

Last season I would have had him back, but I don't think he'd offer much now. He looks a shadow of the player he once was. I don't think he'd suit our style of play and other than his finishing which is superb, I don't see what he'd offer us.

When we were discussing attacking players we wished to sign back in the Spring of 08, he was the first on my list. Ever since I've seen him play when he was 15, I always wished he would play for Liverpool one day. I couldn't see it happening anytime soon though, he was brought up at Barca

Reds join Negredo chase
Liverpool eye move for highly-rated striker

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Almeria star Alvaro Negredo, who admits he would love the chance to move to Anfield.

Skysports.com can reveal that Negredo is on Rafa Benitez's list of targets for the summer.

Negredo has been one of the real stars of La Liga this term with 19 goals for unfashionable Almeria.

In his two seasons with Almeria he has now bagged 32 goals and his exploits have not gone unnoticed.

Fulham made an unsuccessful effort to sign him in January, while Aston Villa are also keeping a watching brief.

Liverpool are now ready to make a move for the player, although his situation is somewhat complicated in that Real Madrid have first option on him until the end of June.

He was with Real Madrid - albeit mainly their second team - before he joined Almeria, but they inserted a buy-back clause of £4.4million which they are now likely to activate.

This will mean they can sell him on, with reports suggesting they would want £9.8million and it seems Liverpool would be willing to pay this sum.

Negredo, at just 24, represents real potential and Benitez is keen on taking him to England.
Liverpool interest

The player himself has revealed that Liverpool have made contact.

"To play next to Fernando Torres at Anfield is a dream and any player would accept that," he told skysports.com.

"But I prefer to talk about reality and I have not spoken with Rafa Benitez, but I do know that some contact exists between the clubs."

Negredo concedes that Real Madrid will ultimately decide where his future lies.

"My future depends on Real Madrid, but I believe that this summer I will be out of Almeria," he continued.

"I am grateful to Almeria because they have given me my chance to play in the Primera Liga.

"But it is logical that I am interested in playing in the Premier League and especially Liverpool.

"I believe that playing in England would be a great chance for me as this league is a sensational place for forwards."

Check out this goal he scored for them. It's a bit grainy so looks like a normal free kick at first but wait for the replay. Class goal that.

This Negredo looks good.  Have to admit I don't think I've watched him over 90 mins, but he's been banging them in for a few seasons now.  Scores all types of goals which is very impressive.  Maybe Sabre could give us a bit more info on him?

I knew Negredo when he played for Real Madrid B under Michel, so Nanny can ask info to Michel about him  :;):

Negredo is a good striker, very promising IMHO. If I have to nitpick, I'll say that he's too left footed, most of the goals you'll see of him are with the left foot, and since he tends to seek that left foot he sometimes miss the chance to kick the ball earlier.

He's pretty tall, 1.85 or so, and he knows to head a ball well.

I think he has the awareness to be a good striker

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_shipwfuZ0&feature=related

If you look at that goal, it's not an easy goal, because more often than not the normal strikers do not expect the defender's mistake and do not react well, but his awareness is good.

About his personality, the times I've seen him speaking he seemed to me very humble, he comes from Vallecas a working class neighbourhood of Madrid. There is known as the shark of Vallecas. He has indeed that predator instict.

But I have the same old doubts about him, Liverpool are a top club, this is a different league, and it's unknown what can happen, but the first thought is thumbs up.

The problem is that I think Real Madrid has a buy back clause.

But the player probably will be preffering coming to Liverpool than to Real Madrid. He played in Real Madrid B, yes, but he comes from the Rayo Vallecano youth system, so he won't have that loyalty in the heart. Then, as many Real Madrid B players like De la Red, Arbeloa or himself, he has known how difficult is to get a minute in the first team, so I don't think Negredo has anything to be grateful to Real Madrid.

Whenever I have seen him, he has looked good in terms of being able to set up others in attack as well.

Llorente  :p

Perhaps Negredo has more skill with the ball, but Llorente's height and strenght and aerial threat could be VERY useful to us, plus Llorente has been a striker in a team that plays shíte.

Llorente is a player that drags and sweeps defences too and I think he would be a better companion to Torres.

The problem in this comparison Joe is the quality/price relationship. I preffer Llorente not by miles, but his price can be 4 times?
