FULHAM VS LIVERPOOL - 4 april 09- 17:15 k.o.

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Dr Pepe: No, it's not a negative, it's a badly constructed English. The "negatives" or better rephrased "the few things we could have done better in an otherwise very good game" were a couple of concentration errors and a couple of youth errors, and a few other things not worth to mention.

Probably just me always focusing on the negatives :D

Also, Andy G posted a one liner above, that, besides being funny, it's very true. A goal can improve a game a lot. Had YOssi didn't score, the fantastic performance would have been deemed as dissapointing, the tinkering of positions in the left would have been not irrelevant but insanity, and the title race would be "over" for many journos. A goal does change a lot a game.

taff wrote:The one thing that struck me was the celebration to the goal and the way the team celebrated at the final whistle.  They looked like a team who were delighted with the win and a team that are really up for it

my feelings exactly, taff. i loved the way the whole bench emptied onto the pitch to join in the celebrations.

a word about insua, too. i thought he looked excellent - very confident on the ball, a nice range of passing and fairly tricky. he seems to like to use the outside of the foot a lot which gives him plenty of angles to look for.

Regarding what Taff says, let's enjoy again the photo that bablondon brought yesterday

I wish it was bigger to enjoy the faces of everyone of the players. Look the captain, you can see happyness there. Look everyone. It rocks!!

Well apparently the 'anti's' of any sort are not allowed to show negativism after winning performance, it's deemed as 'nitpicking', 'ungrateful', 'disloyal', 'revelling in doom and gloom' and so on.

Yet now there are a few posters pointing out there isnt any moanings about rotation, you honestly cannot win. 'Whinge' about rotation and your not a superfan, don't 'whinge' and people think they are clever with sly digs.

For what it is worth, I did not see Rafa bench the likes of Torres and Gerrard to 'save' them for the CL fixture with Chelsea on Wednesday. Yesteryear he would of probably benched one or the other, hopeful of beating a 'mediocre' team without our best players. He did not show Fulham the disrespect he has done IMO to other teams in the past.

As for the players coming in, well its common knowledge that Riera has the fitness levels of my Nan and played for Spain midweek. Where as Dossena came on as sub for Italy, Mascha played at 12.000 feet altitude and had to fly half way round the world. And maybe the real 'tinkering' happened at LB with Insua coming in for Aurelio where as Bav said Rafa maybe saving him for the CL.

Rafa did not rotate our 'game breakers' thus still giving us an adequate chance of winning the match.

On the contrary our manager Rafa is probably the first to find a negative after a victory. Infact wasn't that the first thing he said moment after the players got back in the dressing room after Istanbul?

Everyone should feel free to say whatever they think.

I didn't get to watch the game but ir sounds like it was incredibly frustrating as we were playing bloody well just not getting the ball in the net but what a crucial goal from Yossi, you have to love that wee fella, he's like Luis Garcia V2.

Now lets just hope the Villains can at least hold Manure to a draw which they have every chance of doing. PLease please please. Imagine if that happens and we get sold to the Arab, oh happy days.  :buttrock  :buttrock

Rafa will always be our ultimate critic. Infact I will probabaly never invisgae a moment where Rafa is not trying to analyse what we have done and try to improve it. It's a great characteristic to have in a manager and one that will hopefully help win us the league.

but we are all waiting for the day when Rafa jumps up and says we played perfectly.

That will happen the day in which we end the season first, with no goals conceded in all the season, and winning all the games.

We won't see that. :D

You could almost see Rafa let of a hint of a smile and a bit of a celebration yesterday.  :D At Valencia wasn't it only after the 2nd time they won the league that he was seen jumping up and down on a balcony?

I kind of like that he never celebrates goals like other managers do. He keeps his emotions sealed up so he can keep a clear head to make decisions.
