Passengers - A grief counselor working with a group of plane-crash survivors finds herself at the root of a mystery when her clients begin to disappear.........I watched this the other night and although its a bit slow to start, it was actually very good. Its one of those "have to watch or you'll miss something" films! Very good ending! 6/10

What I'm watching at the weekend...........

The Last House On The Left - After kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women, a gang led by a prison escapee  unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging the parents of one of the victims -- a mother and father who devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics....

The Unborn -A young woman fights a spirit that is slowly taking possession of her (looking forward to this one)

Kemper - A film based on the true story of Ed Kemper, a serial killer who murdered ten in Santa Cruz, CA during the late sixties and early seventies.

Will rate them as I watch them!

woof woof ! wrote:Probably done this before but as we seem to be talking about the merits of a particular actors work (again), forget the reviews and the hype, even if you thought their last movie was sh'ite, what actors name on the billing is enough to make you want to see their latest movie, purely for the pleasure of their performance  ?.

For me it's still old school with , Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Fiennes, Jack Nicholson , Al Pacino and Jodie Foster.

Sean Bean. Ive seen a lot of movies with him in it and usually they are really good and have me engrossed. Im struggling to think of a bad film he has been involved in.

Thought it was pretentious muck for the most part meself Bav. But it certainly livened up when they attacked the bunker in the mid section of the film.

The voiceovers were dreadful though. Good ol' Southern boys waxing lyrical about how bad war is...I didn't buy it. 20 year old grunts just don't talk like that.

Sean Penn and Nick Nolte were good in it though and Elias Koteas was great as the Capt. who cared for his men and got sent home for it.

Yeah I have heard a lot of people say that mate and can see where they are coming from but I still enjoyed it anyway. To be honest I think it's becasue of what I had previously heard (negative thoughts) that I put off seeing it until now.

Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima are also good films based on the Pacific side of WW2.

Yep, loved Letters from Iwo Jima meself. One of the better WWII films I've seen. Don't get me wrong though, I kinda like The Thin Red Line (I even own it on DVD). But Terrence Malik is a very over rated director IMO.

Yeah it does look a bit like him. :D Still I thought the sacrificial scenes were more indicative of people like the Aztecs or Toltecs. The Mayans did do that kind of thing but not on that scale depicted in the film. Also the Spanish arrived around 300 years after major Mayan cities were abandoned. There were some smaller cities though that were inhabited when they arrived. Still it's a great film.

Passion of the Christ was on last night too. Another quality Gibson production.
