Sometimes you have to admit that somebody is "more cleverer" than you and I have to concede here I don't know what you mean. He isn't British, either in a geographical sense or an ethnic one.

If you mean British in the sense that he has spent most of his career playing professional football in Britain, then I understand. I still disagree with your original point (essentially that he was provoking such feverish debate because he was "British") but at least I understand it. I guess it would be the same as saying people would be more concerend about leaving Didi Hamann (at his peak obviously) on the bench as opposed to Philip Lahm.

I don't agree with that (once again if that's what you mean). I come back to what I said earlier, I think people are concerned for two reasons. Firstly he cost 20 million quid which is a lot of money to us, and secondly it's not as if we have a whole bunch of other viable options in his position.

I agree...he missed some awful chances and showed poor form but he doesnt deserve to sit in the stand like that. If rafa really wanted to show him he has a future he would have put him on the bench for this game. If he leaves it wont be his fault

Correct me if I am wrong but does'nt it come under british isles?
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.

:no  :veryangry

That makes even less sense than calling him Keane British..
How is Ireland geographically British?
Its certainly not the Ireland I grew up in anyway if we are suddenly considered part of the British isles

I think we shouldnt think that Keane has had no chances.  He played plenty games at the start of the season and was poor.  Its not like he was benched for no reason.  He isnt good enough, simple as that.

British Isles

The British Isles are a group of islands off the northwest coast of continental Europe which comprise the island of Great Britain, the island of Ireland and a number of smaller islands.

Hate to break it to you, but the two islands are a part of the same archipelago

Also Keane is registered on the Champions League roster as English which applies more to LFC than being the Irish captain.

The last bit may well be true. I think also that very few people think that Keane hasn't been given chances. Sometimes you get little Newkit urban myths, and this is one. Make a comment on Keane and his treatment and it won't be long before you get a "but he's had plenty of chances FFS  ". It used to be the same if you mentioned rotation "but you can't play the same team in every single game". Nobody said you could of course, but no matter.

No, the problem with the treatment of Keane isn't that he wasn't given chances, he was. The problem with Keane is that when he has scored goals, he's been dropped. Perversely, he's had much more chance statistically of starting the next match if he didn't score than if he did. Looking at the way it's gone, absolutely the owrst thing he could possibly do is score two goals in the same match. On both occasions he's managed to do that, he's been hauled off and dropped in the next match. I know perhaps some will say "serves him right cheeky little c... scoring two goals in one game", but it just seems a bit odd to some of us.

Equally, in his last three starts in the league he's scored three goals. No wonder he can't even get on the bench then you think about it.

Couple of things Joe. Firstly, the fella sgs made a mistake and thought he was British, not that it overly matters. He didn't mean British Isles, he meant British. So he was wrong, it doesn't really matter.

More interesting is his point about whether Keane would be viewed differently if he was a British player. I don't think he would.

Sorry, but I actually meant it as in British Isles (my sentence was wrongly phrased); everyone knows Keane is Irish. Thats what I was referring to when I mentioned geography...
