Regardless of Mr Ballaque's interjection on who sanctioned the transfer of Keane and for how much (which is as shamful given the fact he is the puppet as it is predictable), surely the best interests of the team and the football club should be paramount? I ask again, what do we do if Torres has to come off today?

I often wonder what the reaction here would be if Keane was not a British player...Don't get me wrong, I too do feel sorry for him; no player deserves to be treated this way, but for any one who claims to be a Liverpool supporter to suggest he would be happy if Keane left and scored in a winner against us, simply takes the cake.

Keane may not have been given a fair shake, but he did get chances at the club and was not always the player everyone expected him to be. JUST LIKE HE WAS AT INTER....

I hope it gets settled and he goes on loan or something...

Well the first thing to point out is of course that he isn't a British player. Even if he were, I'm not sure that would be at the forfront of most people's minds.

Certainly speaking for myself, it's not where he's from thats the issue, it's more what he cost. You could argue (if you wanted) that N'Gog hasn't been treated fairly etc. He only cost 1.5 million quid though. Keane on the other hand cost 20 million quid, and whether or not he's worth it, is worthy of a place etc etc I think in the very least we should attempt to get some sort of return from our outlay. Unfortunately, we haven't go enough money to spunk 20 million quid on a player, then kick him into the long grass and forget about him.

This is particularly the case when you consider that in Keane's position, we only have one oither viable alternative at the club. Even today IMHo had Torres not popped up with two goals in the last couple of minutes, you could sensibly have asked the question could we possibly had more chance of scoring if we had brought an extra striker on.

As it was, those questions were avoided. It doesn't though alter the fact that the whole situation has been a disaster from start to finish. What irks me most is people are allowing their ego's to get in the way of what's best for the team and its title challenge.

Keane is not British he is Irish which is definatly not the same thing or for that matter anywhere even remotely near being the same thing.

With the amount of moaning from Keane and from others about Keane, i think its much better to get rid of him than keep him on the bench. He obviously only wants to be the first team choice, but he will find it hard to break up the Gerrard/torres partnership.

I'd rather have Nemeth or Ngog miss the chances than Keane.

Thanks for the correction, although what I was referring to was more the geography than ethnicity..

Any how I could'nt agree more about the ego thing..But what I find extremely annoying is when the keane issue is made front and center of everything, including constant references to him in a game where those on the field are doing the job.

Liverpool FC does NOT exist for Robbie Keane. Indeed, dare I say that if his history with top clubs is anything to go by, his failures today simply repeat those at Inter...

From Rafas perspective at what point now does he deem Keane 'mentally fit' to be able to be included in the team? We have the most important part of the season coming up for us not to mention the latter stages of the FA cup and Europe. We need all our players to pitch in and if Rafa isnt going to sell Keane to Spurs then I would hope that he is planning on using him as more than just a bench warmer.
