Disagree, I think he was looking pretty good. Seems to have lost a little bit of weight following hospital etc and perhaps a little drawn, but not buggered.

I think he is generally fed up with answering the same tired questions week in, week out, year in, year out.

Seriously, what is the point of these journos going through the motions like that. It uncovers nothing and they are looking for that one little slip to blow something out of all proportion.

I think Rafa still looks like a man who is in control, has his eye on the prize and the only thing that he has changed is that he states blunt opinions on a few things.

Nothing to worry about in my opinion

yeah agree i think he seem composed and calm. Seemed chilled out to be honest.

Not in tommorrows squad either ? rumour has it he is having a medical at Spurs.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Andrei Arshavin would be absolutley ideal for Kuyt's role.

He would transform our attack.

Keane not in Chelsea squad - Reports Written by This Is Anfield on January 31st, 2009

Robbie Keane has been omitted from Liverpool’s squad to face Chelsea on Sunday, according to claims this evening.

The Republic of Ireland international was left out of the squad against Everton in the FA Cup last Sunday and is believed not to be in the squad for Sunday’s crucial clash at Anfield.

Liverpool and manager Rafa Benitez have denied reports Keane could be set to return to Tottenham but if this proves true and Keane isn’t in the squad on Sunday, surely his future lies away from Anfield, with the transfer window closing on Monday.

Keane played the last eight minutes against Wigan in midweek and trained as normal there doesn’t seem to be an injury to rule him out. Last week youngster David N’Gog took his place in the squad after scoring twice in the reserves.

                                      ------------------------------------------------

I know this is only an unconfirmed story at the moment, but it does question wtf is going on at Anfield. Did Keane play so badly in those 7 or 8 minutes against Wigan? Is he about to be sold ? Has he walked out , had enough, or is Rafa saving him for the Everton game ?

Leaving aside anyones opinion of how good Keane is for a second. Leaving aside whether he was/is woth 20 million quid, and not worrying too much about the fact that we paid that money for a player who wouldn't get into our best team even if he was playing to his optimum. Even forgetting for a second about who signed him   :D (and then ignoring the fact that we believed in him enough to play him in the first sixteen matches regardless of who signed him  ), I have a question. Leaving all of that aside.

If the rumours of Keane not being in the squad are true (and it is only a rumour to be fair) who will we bring on if Torres needs to come off for whatever reason? After nearly five seasons of meticulous planning, every detail plotted to the nth degree, 150 million quid spent, who will be our attacking option? Who is the bloke we can turn to if the game is locked up at 1-1, the bloke who can provide that little flash of inspiration?

Who is going to inject that little bit of pace, that guile, that perceptive running, perhaps a reverse pass or a wee shimmy that wrongfoots the best of defenders? Maybe the same player will ghost into space, see an angle and provide a deft little reverse pass into an onrushing teammates path, who is going to do it?

Ah right, Dirk Kuyt. That's Ok then, I was just wondering.

Thank God for five years of meticulous and thorough planning, the five year plan of building the foundation, giving the team options and possibilities. Feck Keane we don't need him anyway. We've got so many other striking options you won't even notice he's missing.

So what we can read between the lines in the Keane saga is:

a: Rafa won't sign a contract until he is given full power over transfers and money
b: we signed Keane
c: Rafa won't ever play Keane

So...
Rafa never wanted Keane we have to assume. And if that is the case, who else would buy a player that the manager did not want?
This is really not looking good for us.

Or Keane has a niggle from training... one or the two eh

Ahh... grasshopper... you have reached the inner sanctum of wisdom where what seems to be obvious is veiled by mystery and what is mystical to the uninitiated is blindingly obvious to the practised disciple.

Indeed we have Kuyt and Chelsea are collectively shaking in their 300 million pound boots praying Torres doesnt get injured and Rafa unleashes the ugly demon upon them.

I'll believe it when I see it but, let's be honest, it's not beyond the realms of possibility at this point and that tells its own story.

If it is true, than surely it means that he's in the midst of being transferred to another club.  But, unless Rafa has got an ace up his sleeve in terms of an incoming transfer, such a move can only be seen as significantly weakening us in the midst of a title chase.  One day we'll perhaps learn what all this Keane business was about but I can't imagine a scenario where the manager is going to come out looking good.

Well you'd hope we've got someone coming in Bob, that's for sure. Given our parlous financial state (by all accounts and no I haven't actually seen the bank account or spoken to Hicks etc), it's unlikely to be a big name big money arrival I wouldn't think. It's more likely to be a loan from overseas. Whoever it is had better get themselves ready to settle into the Premiership pretty quick smart, as we haven't got the time to wait around for some "option" or "possibility" to find his feet.

To be fair, the whole episode has been an absolute nonsense from start to finish.

Well if he's going back to Spurs, today is his last day before the window closes.

TBH,  doubt there's a single penny available for even a loan player. And it's not as if he's gonna promote a star striker from the Reserves, is it ? OK, Eggnog scored a couple against YTS quality opposition....but he's missed sitter after sitter as well.
There isn't anybody I reckon right now, who would be in their right mind who would come to LFC at the moment. The manager looks like he's on his way out; there's no shining knight ready to buy those two mercenary donkeys from across the pond out; half the squad is made up of glorious underachievers.....
