I cant believe that people are STILL saying that Rafa might not of wanted Keane

Seeing how stubborn our manager is, if the CEO spent the bulk of our transfer kitty on a player the manager didnt want, i think the manager might call it a day - as his own repuation is on the line. He lives and dies by the players he brings in and the results.

To hint that Parry signed Keane and Rafa didnt want him is clutching at straws to put it mildly.

He didn't want him, but once he was signed he then decided to start him in the first 16 matches or whatever it was

Or does Parry pick the team as well now? If he was doing at the time, perhaps we'd better get him back onto it because we were going pretty well during that period :laugh:

Well I think they working there ideas on that rafa also didn't get others players he wanted bcos of parry(villa and such).

I know 2+2 = 22 it seems but each to there own.

I feel he did want keane but who in gods name would have know keane could have played this bad first half of season.

Tbh I sort of got that wrong he hasn't played bad all the time just can't get ball in back of net.

Rafa wanted Barry, a left midfield and was prepared to sell Alonso to fund it. Leaving 20 million to by Keane. Two separate deals if you ask me.

Ignoring the Rafa didnt want Keane angle now, as to me its ridiculous.

Keanes form - for me it hasnt been great, well far from it.
BUT our manager hasnt helped with this at all.
Dropping him just as he has appeared to hit some form was bizarre and made no sense at all, leaving him on the bench when we are struggling to kill off a team and the other options are Kuyt and Ngog...well i cant even begin to understand ot explain that.
People can counter with.....well he has had plenty of time on the pitch and has done no better than the other two.
My argument is...if your at Liverpool and you dont have vast amounts of money to bring in a number of striking options, when you spend the bulk of your transfer kitty on one and your only other top striker is injured, here's an idea...do all you can to get your one top striker into form, cos he is badly needed.
Put your arm round him, tell him he is a top player and that he is the man to keep us in the race for the title while we wait for his strike partner to come back.
Dont throw him on the bench and claim that he is just another squad player, because at 20 million quid for us - we cant afford that.
You can do that with Voronin on a free, but when you spend big it has to work, if it isnt working, do all you can to get it to.
Not just f'ck him off to the bench (or not even that in the cup game)

No wonder the lads struggling for form.

His attitude i wont defend, he probably has been a bit too big for his boots at times but that should be something dealt with in house and then we move on.

I'm also in disbelief that anyone thinks Rafa would tolerate Parry signing a player he didn't want. Given all we know about why he left Valencia and all he's looking to get in a new contract, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that Rafa wasn't instrumental in signing Keane. But, let's say for the sake of argument that it was true...it still doesn't justify freezing Keane out. Whether Rafa wanted him or not (and deep down we all know he did), he's clearly the second most talented striker at the club and most managers would be happy to make use of his services.

I don't care. Harry has tapped up no fewer than 3560 players in the last week (a conservative estimate).

afael Benitez has confirmed Liverpool have told Tottenham they are unhappy with their conduct in the Robbie Keane saga.

The Anfield chief believes Spurs boss Harry Redknapp's claims that he would like Keane at his club could constitute an illegal approach.

Liverpool have not officially reported the north London outfit to the Premier League, but Benitez has not ruled out doing so.

He said: "We have not decided yet whether we will take this further, it depends on their response."

Liverpool are particularly unhappy because of Spurs' complaints about the Reds' conduct when Keane moved to Anfield for £20million last summer.

That situation was only smoothed over when Liverpool apologised and made a donation to a charity of Tottenham's choice.

The capital club did make contact with Liverpool on Thursday, but Benitez said: "We have said to Spurs that we are not happy with them because of the comments from their manager about Robbie Keane.

"I do not think that they have come in with an offer. He has been training this week very well, he is our player and he is trying to make sure he is ready for the next match.

"I think he is a long-term part of our plans, I hope he scores a lot of goals."

Benitez added: "We were very, very correct when we signed Robbie even though Spurs were complaining. Now we have this situation to deal with.

"But Robbie has been fine. Spurs wanted the player but they had to do things properly.

"They have to make an official offer and we will say yes or no. You must do things properly, especially when you have complained about everybody when he first joined us."

Keane was dropped by Liverpool for last weekend's FA Cup tie against Everton, but returned to the squad at Wigan on Wednesday where he was a late substitute for Steven Gerrard.

The Republic of Ireland captain will be in the squad for Sunday's home match against title rivals Chelsea.
