Tottenham Hotspur have resigned themselves to not bringing Robbie Keane back to the club this month.
They were told yesterday that Liverpool want their £20.3m fee back in full if they were to let the striker go back to White Hart Lane and Spurs are not prepared to pay.
A number of different options had been previously discussed between the clubs, including deals involving Aaron Lennon and Jermaine Jenas and the cancellation of the outstanding £11m balance payable to Spurs on Keane's transfer. However, the Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was told yesterday by Liverpool that they want a straight money offer or there will be no deal.
Keane is understood to want to try to establish himself at Liverpool, despite his dispiriting start. The player is also understood to be considering the possibility that Rafael Benitez may leave in the summer which would allow him to establish himself under a different manager. Of his 22 starts for Liverpool, Keane has completed 90 minutes just five times. He has featured in just three of their last six games and his relationship with Benitez is fraught.
See if that bold part is true, then I dare say Rafa didn't even want Keane to begin with, and if that's true, well, makes one wonder the state we're in. Coco out to f*ck!

Seeing how stubborn our manager is, if the CEO spent the bulk of our transfer kitty on a player the manager didnt want, i think the manager might call it a day - as his own repuation is on the line. He lives and dies by the players he brings in and the results.
To hint that Parry signed Keane and Rafa didnt want him is clutching at straws to put it mildly.

Well I think they working there ideas on that rafa also didn't get others players he wanted bcos of parry(villa and such).
I know 2+2 = 22 it seems but each to there own.
I feel he did want keane but who in gods name would have know keane could have played this bad first half of season.
Tbh I sort of got that wrong he hasn't played bad all the time just can't get ball in back of net.
But I do feel tho since keanes performances have been dire rafa has not handled the problem very well.

Given all we know about why he left Valencia and all he's looking to get in a new contract, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that Rafa wasn't instrumental in signing Keane. But, let's say for the sake of argument that it was true...it still doesn't justify freezing Keane out. Whether Rafa wanted him or not (and deep down we all know he did), he's clearly the second most talented striker at the club and most managers would be happy to make use of his services.
