Hughes lines up Keane to ease Robinho transfer worry
Saturday January 24 2009

Robinho will demand to know which players Manchester City will sign before the end of the January transfer window when he meets manager Mark Hughes on Monday.

One of them may well be Robbie Keane with Hughes thought to be ready to table a £20million bid for the Irish striker, £5m more than his former club Tottenham were thought to be offering.

City have already signed Wayne Bridge for more than £11m, Craig Bellamy for £14m and Nigel de Jong for £17m and intend to add to their squad further. The most likely targets remain Roque Santa Cruz, who would cost at least £20m, and £10m-rated Shay Given, while a central defender is also required.

Whether this will be enough to convince the Brazilian -- who celebrates his 25th birthday tomorrow -- of the club's ambitions is open to doubt. Robinho is due to return to training with the rest of the first-team squad after which he will hold talks with Hughes about his recent actions with the striker facing punishment after walking out on the club's training camp in Tenerife and flying home to Brazil.

Robinho later apologised while also insisting the row was a mix-up -- he thought he been granted leave -- and he had to return to South America to deal with personal issues, although sources close to him confirmed earlier this week that he also wanted to attend birthday celebrations in Santos.

It's also understood that Robinho is not happy at City and is aware of the desire of Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari, who was devastated to miss out on the player last summer, to bring him to Stamford Bridge. It's expected that Hughes will tell Robinho that deals to sign two of the club's targets are close and hope to be tied up soon after their next game at home to Newcastle on Wednesday. Who said Hughes was a no good c*nt, if he's willing to take Keane off our hands for £20million I think he's a pretty good bloke...... cr@p manager but a good bloke :D

Richards desperate for Liverpool switch

Author: Andrew Allen
Posted on: 25 January 2009 - 3:12 PM

Micah Richards is desperate to end his Manchester City hell and join Liverpool in a shock £8million move. The 20-year-old is determined to leave the club before the end of the transfer window after becoming disillusioned with life at Eastlands under boss Mark Hughes.Richards has become frustrated by the lack of progress at the club and the constant media circus which has surrounded City since the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group.

The City star, who has endured a difficult time at Eastlands in recent months, has failed to recapture the form which saw him catapulted into the England squad as a teenager.

And after being snubbed recently by Fabio Capello, Richards is ready to quit City to save his England career.

Both Liverpool and Arsenal have already looked into taking the player before the end of January - but the Gunners are struggling for cash with Arsene Wenger still battling it out for Andrei Arshavin.

And Reds boss Rafa Benitez is ready to offer Richards a way out of City by launching a bid for the versatile defender with doubts still surrounding the future of Daniel Agger.

AC Milan are determined to lure the Danish defender to Italy, despite Benitez stating the player is not for sale.

But the Spaniard's stance could soften should he secure the signature of Richards before the transfer window closes.

Chimbonda's a bloody awful player imo.

Redknapp's losing it imo.  Slagging the sh.it out of his players in the press at every opportunity, paying ridiculous money for Defoe and Palacios, and now re-signing a player who has done nothing of note in English football since he had one good season with Wigan.

I'll make a prediction right now - Redknapp will be out of there by this time next year, reputation shattered.

Would love the Richards rumour to be true, he may have gone off the boil but is a top young player.
He should be one of the players that city should be looking after with the ability he has, but i suppose now they have all this money they dont care.
Same with Daniel Sturridge, top quality young player, i would take them both if possible.
Richards will get back to form soon enough.

Where's this article from mate? Any (remotely) credible source? Would like it to be true is all, but I have severe doubts about it being anything other than pure conjecture from the authors side. While Richards has been off the boil this season he's still very young and will eventually find his form again imo, so 8 million for a talented english international would be quite a steal, especially seeing as we actually could do with another RB to put pressure on Arby (no, Degen doesn't count :D).
