Negatives
He is weak
soft,
slow,
no upper body strenght,
no airial presence,
no penetration,
no goal treath,
can't shoot

Positives
He has a good understanding of the game,
his runs (although he makes few and makes them slow) are intelligent,
he is british (CHL quota)

This is not enough for me. Bye bye Keane.

Seriously, do stop talking bollox.

To reiterate how much sh*t you just wrote, I've highlighted something in bold, not to be controversial of course.

I will enlighten you kiddo since your knowledge is so limited.

CHL RULES

No club may have more than 25 players on List A during the season. As a
minimum, places 20 to 25 on List A (six places) are reserved exclusively for
“locally trained players” and no club may have more than three “associationtrained
players” listed in places 20 to 25 on List A. List A must specify the six
players who qualify as being “locally trained”, as well as whether they are
“club-trained” or “association-trained”. The possible combinations that enable
clubs to comply with the List A requirements are set out in Annex VIII.

A “locally trained player” is either a “club-trained player” or an “associationtrained
player”.

A “club-trained player” is a player who – irrespective of his nationality and
age – has been registered with his current club for a period, continuous or
not, of three entire seasons (i.e. a period starting with the first official match
of the relevant national championship and ending with the last official match
of that relevant national championship) or of 36 months between the age of
15 (or the start of the season during which the player turns 15) and 21 (or the
end of the season during which the player turns 21).

An “association-trained player” is a player who – irrespective of his nationality
and age – has been registered with a club or with other clubs affiliated to the
same national association as that of his current club for a period, continuous
or not, of three entire seasons or of 36 months between the age of 15 (or the
24
start of the season during which the player turns 15) and 21 (or the end of
the season during which the player turns 21).

If a club has fewer than six locally trained players in its squad (i.e. in places
20 to 25 on List A), then the maximum number of players on List A is
reduced accordingly. Furthermore, if a club lists a player in places 20 to 25
on List A who does not fulfil the conditions set out in this article, that player is
not eligible to participate for the club in the UEFA club competition(s) in
question and the club is unable to replace him on List A.

You said he was British, so you can f*ck right off with that. Stop trying to twist it. Robbie Keane is a Irish national, which classes him as a foreign player.

You still don't understand that he is an assocoation trained player?

So that makes him British in nationality? Catch yourself on.

devaney wrote:Well at least you made an attempt at a more meaningful response than Ya Mong, however grossly misguided and stupid it maybe.

Torres and Keane have played together - didn't work! Torres and Gerrard have played together and it has worked very well.

So you've read a few books, watched a few games and played a bit and do you think that gives you the right to become a patronising outspoken so-called expert. Let's face it I am responding to somebody that is so inept that he cannot recognise the value of Kuyt's goals to the team and accused Rafa of being a clown before the Newcastle game. Even your knowledge of clowns leaves a lot to be desired and that surprises me.

So you think that talking about a players level of confidence or settling in period is stupid?

Gerrard is probably the best player in the world. He's a central midfielder, not a striker. Again you think thats stupid? You don't think if you have the best player in the world you should get the best out of him? You think its Stupid to suggets that?

You then state Keane and Torres have played together and it didn't work? Why didn't it? We've won games when they've played together despite only one of them hitting any kind of form in the limited time they've played together. Keane still, clearly hasn't settled and Benitez' treatment of him isn't helping, which is a bit pathetic as if we had him and Torres upfront and on form we'd score ALOT of goals.

Having "read books", "coached players" and "played a bit" I think its pretty safe to say I can speak from experience. Again, I don't think talking about players personalities and confidence is stupid or misguided. I actually think that if you understand these things you can get the best out of players, Benitez tends to disagree, Ferguson and Mourinho base their style on it, who's right? I'd probably go for the ones who consistently win league titles... Stupid? If winning the leagues stupid then yeah...

I don't fail to see Kuyt's scored a couple of winners and set a couple up either. But I don't fail to see by the same token a woeful touch and the fact he's a very average player who we can, should and easily could do alot better than... even without signing someone. Bennayoun, Pennant, El Zhar and even the waster Babel are better options on the right.

As for Benitez, he's top of the league with an excellent group of players, well a core anyway, he's occassionally been forced into playing certain line ups due to injury and he's been very fortunate in circumstances aswell. He's so far taking advantage of a weak league and well done to him, but it could be better.

He should try playing our best team, not signing poor players on a consistent basis, not making silly team selections, selecting favourates, not making wild substitutions, not playing the rubbish he's signed, not making excuses for them, improving the right area's, not letting his ego make decisions and selections for him, not trying to show everyone how clever he is or who's the boss... if Benitez does those things or doesn't do certain things it would go a long way to helping us become a great side with a manager who's capable.

Unfortunately, we have a coach as a manager. That manager chooses to act like a clown on occassions and insult the fans. Again, I personally don't think any of thats misguided or stupid.

Obviously wanting whats best for the club and team is misguided and stupid in your life, in mine its fairly important.

Wow, been to a match have we? First time for everything.

Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal aren't as good as in previous seasons, we're slightly better and the gap is closed for the time being. United and Chelsea still have far better squads and teams and the end of the season will reflect this.

United have played all of last years top ten away from home. We haven't, we drop stupid home points, the only games United have lost is away against top 4/5 sides.

Judging by the results and performances you see that despite the standard of the league increasing slightly, the best sides, with the exception of Liverpool have all took at least one step backwards therefore resulting in a weaker league... in its own way. Liverpool will not win the league this season because of one man, Benitez. Simple as that.

Curious as to how you can say Chelsea and Manchester United are weaker considering they both spent a :censored: load of cash.

Which of Chealsea's summer signings weakend the team....Was it Bosingwa, Deco or perhaps it was the coach Scolari? Let not forget Anelka Either I know he was signed in January but he still deserves some of the blame.

As for ManU......evidently they spent somewhere in the vicinity of 30m in summer onM Berbatov only weakened the team....Wow and I thought Dossena was a stuff up.

Mancs and Chelsea are an ageing team. Look at chelsea's team, the core is 30+, same with Manure, esp since Nani isn't doing it yet, Hargreaves was not a good buy and Anderson, though class is lacking at times. Berbatov has scored the same as our Robbie... so yeah, I do not think the cheatski's and Manures of the world are as strong as last season.

We did this "is it a stronger league" a couple of weeks back and it was an interesting discussion. The first thing which needs to be pointed out quite clearly is that it is irrelevent in terms of us winning it. It matters not even one millionth of one per cent. Equally, though I have never quite bought into the messionic devotion shown towards the manager by many people on here, I think if we win it it is a marvellous achievement for which he deserves full credit. As a slight aside, I think it is a pretty good, infact very impressive thing to even get us to the point where we are challenging (and hopefully I can say that now without being accused of jinxing us).

All that said, as I said at the time IMHO the league is measureably weaker this season. Now everyone uses their own criteria for judging how strong it is, you'll have someone saying "well look at Villa, strongest they've been for a generation" and in the same sentence you'll have someone pointing out that until he sorts out the shambles left behind by Ramos, Redknapp is managing a very poor Spurs team as well. Teams being able to beat each other is held up by some as a measure of quality, whilst others (like me) think it indicates an overall weakness.

As I said at the time, the debate was interesting with conflicting views so there seems little point in going over it again. I mention it though because Stu in his post seems to be alluding to the belief that the "big four" with the exception of us are weaker. In this, surely there is no argument is there? This is as close to a statement of fact as you are ever going to get on here I would have thought. All three of the other clubs have had teams within the last three or four seasons (five seasons in Arsenal's case) who would have absolutely p!ssed this league at a canter. It would be probably be as good as over by now in fact. On that score, I wouldn't have thought there is too much argument to be had.

I'll repeat here though because I know some are selectively hard of reading, it makes no difference to us whatsoever. If we win the league with a historically low points total of 72 points, who honestly gives a sh!t? The objective at the start of the season is to get more points than anyone else who is in the league that year, not to get more than Mourinho's Chelsea of three seasons ago, more than Arsenal's "Invincibles" or more than one of the Man Utd teams which p!ssed the league. None of those are in it this year, and the fact that it's probably just as well is neither here nor there.
