never heard of ariel Ibagaza? he played some good football in Mallorca few years ago. But he was never world class player because of his limitations. Player with ability and skills. can Lucas as an central midfilder dribble few players in a row? I don`t think so

I read a very interesting piece on RAWK regarding Lucas and how South Americans classify midfielders. It mentioned a classical setup whereby the midfield consists of a pure holding player - the first volante. There is then a midfielder who can both hold and start attacks - named the second volante. More attacking midfielders are called melas. Ze Roberto played the second volante role at the last world cup (although he's a natural left back).
Apparently part of the reason there was so much excitement in Brazil over Lucas was that he was seen to be the 1st genuine second volante for some years - likened to Falcao.
I can see how this fits with Lucas. I've always thought we were trying to make a naturally attacking midfielder into a holding one - something that would probably never work. But if Lucas's confidence grows I could see how he could function as a second volante with Mascherano or Alonso as first volante. Gerrard seemed to love playing with him on Sunday.

If you come on here, a Liverpool forum and insist on talking about obscure foreign players, don't be surprised if we haven't got their whole careers in our database. While you are lounging about on the beach watching Real Mallorca and listening to some dodgy Queen tribute band, we've got a league to win.
Now by all means join in and cheer us on, but if you are going to be so unpleasant about it then you can keep your support. Ola and goodnight.
