i think Keane is doing OK...wish Rafa would leave him on the field for the full 90 so he can get more confidence...the lad looks proper down when he's off and i think he might have knicked a goal on tuesday. Wrong call to bring him off and replace him with Ngog

Why exactly do you think Keane is doing ok. 2 goals in 18 games - not creating much - running around a bit like somebody who is trying to hard. Completely cocked up against Athletico Madrid when he had a relatively easy opportunity to double his tally and give Liverpool a two nil lead. But oh no what does Robbie do he tries some playground fancy tricks and Liverpool end up with a draw! If you think that's doing ok then I can't see it!!

he has created a fair share of chances, and has assisted in a few goals...perhaps someone can look up the stats?  ???

his play is also intelligent, he always wants the ball and he creates space. yeah. ok he cocked up a chance against Atletico but he also scored a fine goal.

I'm content with his form and believe he's one of the reasons we're joint top.  He's also proven quality at Premiership level and he will come good.

TBH I like Rafa taking him off, he must know the temperament of the player, the two goals would have done his confidence the world of good, you could see him grow as a player. Every time SG got the ball he was on his way looking to get in behind instead of checking and coming short and was about an inch offside (debatable) when he was straight though for the hatrick. The thing is though he was basicaly the lone striker and when Torres is back he`ll have to go back to playing slightly in behind.
Keep him hungry for next week I say. :nod

Robbie Keane is to clever at times for his own good.  What a player he is.  I think Rafa taking him off against Spurs was a good move as he had ran his socks off allday.  and was in danger of burning him self out.  Same again today Rafa keep up the good work boys.

Excellent performance today from Keane, and hopefully now we'll begin to see him play somewhere near his potential. Hopefully and obviously we resist the temptation to rotate him now for the next game, and he can move on from here and build his Liverpool career. It certainly makes the stats look a little more healthy now, and some of his movement (even though offside) in the second half was absolutely top drawer.

I can definately see the advantage of constantly subbing keane when we're ahead instead of dropping him to give him a rest.

However this fact helps distort the stats.

Keane has been taken off in the last 9 games he's started in, and in 12 out of his 14 starts for the season so far

He's only played the full 90 minutes in two games this season (utd & Middlesbrough)

When you're taken off after 60/65/70 minutes in nearly every game there's less and less minutes on the pitch to score which could definately affect his goal scoring chances

Well he hasnt exactly been brilliant in the 60-70 minutes he has played in most of those matches.

I was about to deliver sarcasm of the like that the great leon would of been of... but then I remembered that that was my point a couple of days ago. :D

Well he hasnt exactly been brilliant in the 60-70 minutes he has played in most of those matches.

he hasn't exactly been setting the world alight, no.

however - that comment was merely aimed at his goal to game stats. 3 out of kuyt's 6 goals have been scored after 80 minutes.

Yes he hasn't been scintilating but even michael owen in his prime and torres now have quiet games then pop up with a goal out of nothing after 80/85 minutes

He has set up 4 goals for Kuyt!
Been nowhere near his potential everyone would admit, but today was a good day for him!Nearly everything he done seemed to work.
Nando back as well,if thes two click(i think they will) and stay fit we'll be up there at the end..no doubt in my mind!

Delighted for him, you could see his confidence grow after the first goal and his second goal was well taken! Good to see him walk off pitch with his head held high for a change!

It really was a brilliant performance. If he can play with that sort of arrogance every week he will be worth the 20M.
