back to topic..

i think Keane is doing OK...wish Rafa would leave him on the field for the full 90 so he can get more confidence...the lad looks proper down when he's off and i think he might have knicked a goal on tuesday. Wrong call to bring him off and replace him with Ngog

Yeah he looked really gutted I felt bad for him. He can't play where Rafa is playing him though. The only way he will score more from where he is playing is if Gerrard sits back which imo is the right option. Unless Gerrard plays on the right but we all know that wont happen whilst Kuyt is fit. So Rafa will continue to keep playing him there in the hope that he starts scoring. I hope it works but im doubtful. The longer that goes on I feel he will be more and more depressed.

Why exactly do you think Keane is doing ok. 2 goals in 18 games - not creating much - running around a bit like somebody who is trying to hard. Completely cocked up against Athletico Madrid when he had a relatively easy opportunity to double his tally and give Liverpool a two nil lead. But oh no what does Robbie do he tries some playground fancy tricks and Liverpool end up with a draw! If you think that's doing ok then I can't see it!!

He looked ok in terms of workrate and link up play when Torres was still in the team. Against Utd I thought he played really well.

he has created a fair share of chances, and has assisted in a few goals...perhaps someone can look up the stats?  ???

his play is also intelligent, he always wants the ball and he creates space. yeah. ok he cocked up a chance against Atletico but he also scored a fine goal.

I'm content with his form and believe he's one of the reasons we're joint top.  He's also proven quality at Premiership level and he will come good.

I hope so 7Kewel. If he was to hit top form then games like Spurs and Stoke would be even more a rarity. Anyway tomorrow is a good chance for him.

it might take some time, but good players don't become bad ones over night. I think he'll be one of the reaons we win our 19th title  :)

There is a long way to go yet mate. But yeah if he hits top gear then we have more of a chance. In a way we have done pretty well do come this far and pretty much maintain our position with Torres out and Keane not yet hitting form.

devaney wrote:So to try and give Robbie's time in Milan some credibility you rely on quotes going back to when Robbie was playing for Spurs. Now that he is playing at a different and far higher level would the quotes of admiration remain the same - I don't think so. I referred to Robbie's time at Milan because I am far from convinced that he is up to the job at Liverpool. Only time will tell and I will be very happy if I am proved to be wrong but Robbie's record of one Carling Cup in six years at Spurs is a country mile away from Liverpool's aspirations.

Milan was about development and the very high expectations have never come to fruition at the highest level.Oh and by the way I like yoghurt !!!

Some credibility? You were arguing that he never stepped up while at Inter, showed nothing. No potential to perform at the hightest level? I link you to a story where the club's president says he regrets letting Keane leave the club, stating that he should of showed more patience with him and always liked him as a player.

To me, that's a fairly large amount of credibility.

I don't really care about people criticizing Keane's price tag and the fact that he hasn't scored much, but to criticize his time at Inter and hold it against him now...is as someone said - daft.

Also, the league held pretty much the same teams last season as it does this season. Keane scored double figures. This talk of a "different" level can only apply to the Champions League, because everything else is almost exactly the same! So, if Keane was pretty decent in scoring the last 2 seasons...and he's not scoring now...maybe it might have to do more with form/confidence and the fact that he's switched clubs and is playing a different role in a team...than his quality, yeah? That would make more sense.

The jury is still out on whether he will be a success here all around (league, europe), but these are some things to think about.

Funny that Berbatov has the exact same amount of trophies from his time at Spurs, btw..

I think he scored 1 goal at Inter in the cup maybe. It was a fantasitc chip I think kind of like Garcias against Everton but from closer towards the keeper if that makes sense.

He played a total of 13 games and scored 2 goals - 1 in Europe and 1 in the cup - his Serie A record was 6 games and no goals.

Ok criticsising Robbie's efforts at Inter Milan maybe a bit cruel but 33 games and 9 goals for Leeds when they finished 5th two years later does suggest that as I have maintained he did not develop as well as was expected. I am not for one minute suggesting that he is a poor player. I simply do not believe that he will be an outstanding success for Liverpool. Please, please prove me wrong !!!! There are twenty million reasons why he should !!!
