Woodgate for 15mil - Woody v owen

International Football/Football World Wide - General Discussion

Postby AussieRed » Fri Aug 20, 2004 1:50 am

Considering strikers normally go for a hell of a lot more than defenders in the transfer market.. and YES i do know owen only had 10 months to go.. but what are your views on Woodgate going to Real for 50% more than owen and also getting payed (going by what i read) 20,000 pounds more a week!!!!!! any views?

Regarding the difference in wages , maybe Woodgate wanted to stay at newcastle MORE than Michael wanted to be at Liverpool hence the bigger carrot to tempt him away ???

Eiher that or he has a better agent :p

i think this a sorry thing to happen to Sir Bobby..

coz newcastle defence without woodgate... is just pure LOUSY!!!!!!

i dun think they stand a chance.. even for the fourth spot... coz a leaky defence will nvr do them any good... ???

With £15M to spend there are plenty of room to make a lousy defence look decent.. One could sign 7 defenders of Josemi`s calibre with that kind of money ???

I think the reason RM decided to pay more for a defender than our Michael is simple.  Real need quality defenders, but they have an abundance of attacking players.  If they hadn't of landed MO it would have hurt their pride more than their plans of European dominance.
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

With 15 mil to spend they wont give it to Sir bobby as he is leaving at the end of the year.. they will keep it and let the new manager spend it at seasons end.. they may give him a bit but highly doubt whether they will give him too much as he isnt in their plans after this year!!!
