What point was he trying to make? Steven Gerrard for me is utilised completely wrong by Benitez. He's better from the right than he is off the front man or even better still I think the way he was used against Everton is the way he should be used every week.

Yes he'd score less goals and get less assists but I still think he'd contribute alot moreto the side in that area, he'd get into the game more and have more of an impact on the way we play as a team andit gets every good point of his game out.

To be honest, I'd forgotten how good Gerrard was in that role till the Everton game its that long since I've seen it. The last performances I can remember like that were against Chelsea and United in games where he never scored (so was obviously ineffective).

He was saying that now we have goalscorers up front Gerrard can concentrate on his position in central midfield rather than having to keep deserting it to try and score the goals as well. While he will still get his share of goals playing his position properly. Or word to that effect.

Hey ! I live in a council house ! When we signed for it we had to grow our grass and ensure that for 8 of the 12 months of the year we have an old mattress and broken fridge in the yard. Other than that its ok !

Stu said I live in a council house with a gang of kids and scrounge off the dole.

Ohh get over it...

Well I'm not Stu but I'm answering this anyway

Not so sure about that comment, sounds like a typical tv pundit viewer-friendly flavour of the month comment to me.  Gerrard is the best midfielder in the country no matter whether he plays in the link position, as an out and out centre mid or even on the right.  He seems to be able to score goals regularly no matter which of these positions he is playing in too.

But in terms of the whole team, I think at the moment having two up front and Gerrard in the centre will make us more offensive.  We are starting to see that in the last 2 games with Keane and Torres starting to gel and Gerrard and Alonso have been in great form in the middle.  I also think that we look a lot more balanced now with Riera on the left, who gives us an outlet and natural width.  He's nothing spectacular but I think he's a clever player and will be worth what we paid for him.

But the biggest difference this season?  Less rotation imo.  There is now no question that Benitez has decided to re-think his strategy.  Now all we need him to do is stop bringing on Lucas

It won't be long before he starts :censored: around with it again. We've finally found a balance in three of the four midfield positions, whats the odds on it changing now?

I wonder.

Hope not.  I don't mind the odd change here and there to be honest, but at least Torres and Gerrard aren't being 'rested' and our centre backs have been left alone since Hyypia played at Sunderland.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Mascherano come in to the team at the weekend, but imo the team that played tonight deserves to start again.  Against Everton our weak link was Dossena who was dropped tonight, which I thought was fair enough.  I don't think anyone tonight deserves to lose their place.

Agreed, the only change I'd make at the weekend would be Pennant for Kuyt.

I'd like to see Alonso and Gerrard left well alone at the minute as they are starting to look really good together. Leave Mascherano on the bench. Not a bad sub really is he? :D

As per usual, some folks just can't still go with the flow and enjoy what was a very good win. We're looking good all over the pitch now, and we're looking as if we can both control and dismantle teams at will, no matter who. And before any of you cynical feckers jump in with the most wittiest and sarcastic of responses of "but we drew against Stoke," yes, I'm aware of that anomaly in our season, but we hardly played :censored: that day either. Chelsea drew against Cluj FFS. I don't see anyone jumping on that bandwagon, especially the press. The little men of this world are entitled to their 15 minutes of fame the odd time.

Point is, we're looking solid, and gaining some good form and solidity to our play. We've beaten two of our biggest rivals so far, and done it comfortably as well. We're on a roll and long may it continue. You pessimistic fuckers might want to take your coats and head for the exit, because there's just no cause for any negativity from your kind at the moment.
