Man poo are said to be looking to buy him

If i was in charge i would buy just to stop him from going there.

In Janurary, if he's available on the cheap then the definate answer is of course we should.

Even if its around the £5m mark, he's still amazing quality for that kind of money and he GUARENTEES goals and I think it would only be sheer madness if we didn't at least go for him with serious intent.

Lets face it, he's still a top class striker and picking from him, Keane and Torres would give us fantastic options.

In other words, even though not a priority, its not an oppurtunity we can afford to miss.

His price will go up in Janurary as he will be at a new club by then, saying that there are now reports that he has just been opfferd a new deal to stay but i think he has made his mind up to go.

new deal

On the surface Michael Owen for a couple of million seems like a bargain, however lets not forget his injury record in recent seasons and the fact that his wages at Newcastle are £130,000 a week, he won't take a pay cut and sign a new contract which is why Newcastle a looking to unload.

You are right his wages would be a sticking point for me. I would just hope there was something in him that work make him come to us for less.

Being fit is another thing, even if he come on after 60mins he would be worth it. Right now when we look like nothings going to happen we look to the bench to make a change, now we dont have Crouch i think owen would be great.

What i would say is that i dont think Rafa wil have anything to do with Owen.

I dont want him,too injury prone even at a cut price and also not anywhere near the player he used to be(probably as a result of his injuries)
Should NEVER have been sold in the first place IMO but thats history now.

No . To injury prone i'm afraid , and it still sticks in my throat the way he left and the chances he's had to come back . Sorry but no.

I've had a couple of quid on him at around 33/1 on Betfair to be top goalscorer in the Prem. I don't think he will be, but I think it's a huge price which has a good chance of being tradeable. By that, I mean that as it gets nearer Christmas he will be keen to put himself in the shop window and will be absolutely trying his b)ll0cks off. As Stu says, he gaurantees goals and my hunch is he'll be in an around the upper end of the top goalscorers, Man U or somebody will sniff around him and you ought to be able to offload him at around 16/1, have the balance on Torres or somebody similar and Robert will be your Fathers brother.

That's the theory anyway. For two million quid, provided he was prepared to take sensible wages I'd sign him yes.

no one guaruntees goals playing for newcastle. 33s is an awful price if he stays there sorry id have to say. if he does move tho, which is possible, then the price starts to get interesting (altho u could now get 40s with paddy power, but no free money to trade later)

2-4 Mill, accepts to take a big reduction in wages (been earning free money for a long, long time) and isn't worried to be called super-sub - then sure :)
